I heard that the 8-speed that was available in europe in 2013 was because they switched the motor to the n57 and mated it to the ZF 8-speed. Essentially the same setup as the F15 but in an E70.. Not sure if we'd be able to swap the transmissions in, and that upsets me because I wanted to try as well..

These do give it a more sporty look which is what I was going for, wanted to see those brakes also!

Thanks for that, it's been a lot of modding for almost 4 years now but really starting to come together. Still about 30% to go but feels good.

Plan to make it yours before saying anything, hah. Then start modding! The potential of the 35D is amazing and was completely detuned, partly to sell the V8's in the US IMO. The performance to fuel economy ratio's make it great owning.

Sequential turbo, inline 6 diesel, AWD, double wishbone suspension, hydraulic steering (F15 and beyond are electric), great trans (now has multiple tuning options) and fully integrated bumper exhaust with real tips that can fit a 335 width tire stock - just a few things that make this a classic in my book and will not be getting rid of it. My next car purchase will be full electric but this can always be a towing workhorse.

Without making this a page long post, the mixture of new hyrbid turbos, "h2o" injection, monoball bushings, beefed up sway bars and full air suspension will make for an amazing 2.5 ton rig.

The only thing missing is the 8 speed zf transmission they were putting in them for the European market last couple years production. Which is absolute BS since they were most likely produced in the states. This would be on the top of my "want but most unlikely to happen" list.

Yup pre cut ... I actually have a guy an hour from me who has done some of my cars and considering what he charges, I was never happy with his film applications.

Lots of You tube videos and decided to take up on my own. Besides running into few issues, for the mst part it went fine.

Once you get a hang of it, it really is not too bad and you can do custom cuts as well.

If close to Louisville KY, I can help you get started too

Picked up winter tires/wheels for my Daughter’s X5.
Blizzak DM V2 18” x 255’s all around. Thinner than factory for a Northern Vermont winter, but this is by design. I have them silver sport wheels. Same winter tire/wheels I have on The Horse and they do very well for a Watertown NY winter.

Not a great picture because they look much darker than they actually are.

I havent committed to winters yet. I'm waiting to see how the X5 feels in deep snow with teh defender lxt's, they're M/S rated and my buddy's tacona was great int eh snow with them last year. This will be the first winter in 8 eyars I don't run designated snows, but I also don't drive my X5 like I drove my stage 2 335i

Retrofit steering with shifter paddles

Bimmer ppl,...I have just got a 2011 X5 E70 LCI,....but the stock steering wheel is kinda ugly,...want to get those Sports steering wheel with gear shifters( they normally come on the diesel and M models), want to know if it will be a direct plug and play and if the paddle shifters will work automatically or I will need some programming after the fit.

I ordered my downpipes from Meisterschaft back in sept. they arrived today even though I was frustrated with the wait, the quality and attention to details is amazing. Sending them off to be coated then install. Will be posting the before and after video comparison.

Went offroading in the pines. Hopefully there's more pics to come, as I was driving and not taking pictures! I had a ton of fun in the sand, and did some very adventurous hillclibs in the sand. It appears I put some wear on some parts, but that's in my car's thread. Here's the pics I grabbed!
https://photos.app.goo.gl/AdSqvHLn4B963G8o6

As you can see, I'm pretty willing to torture test my X5 in the pursuit of a good time. I dod have a really great time, so I'd call it worth it. Big Mud truck driving local guys couldn't believe a Bmw had a diesel, better yet was scooting the places I was taking it. That hill that I have pics of is the only hill I couldnt get up, and honestly had I hit it the first time with a bit more speed, I would've made it. After the first try, the sand was just too soft. I only had a out a foot of total space that I could place my wheels and not fall off the trial to either side, so I didn't want to race up it the first go!

Got the snow wheels/tires on.
Blizzak DM V2 18” 255’s on a nice inexpensive black sport wheel.
Served my very well in a rigorous winter last year.

I drove mine from Charlotte, NC up to D.C. and back! The I-85 interstate has been improved and speed limit 70mph in most places so it only took 5:50 or so each way, for 394 miles. Not sure what my mileage was and I don't care... This thing is a sweet road trip car. I love putting it in Manual mode 8th gear at speed to prevent downshifts when passing, and just roll into the torque instead when needed.

I have been enjoying the 5-0 stress free since the valve stem seal replacement work was done back in July, and haven't added oil since... my oil level indicator is still at MAX!

I drove my X5M home for the first time in over 6 months after the engine failure. My FRM module is fried though and my drivers window stuck down, so it was a bit of a cold drive. That said, I could easily hear the roar of the S63 while trying to drive "nicely" while the engine is still being broken in.

I also introduced it to the new addition to our BMW family, a 2019 i3 BEV.
