I have 2013,only issues i had is
1.Rear suspension airbags were dropping over night(fixed under warranty)
2.Sunroof guidelines (also under warranty) allegedly it's common problem for all E70.
3.Did whole bunch of recalls on one visit,airbags,front drive shaft,injectors,vent pipe.
Everything is dry under engine and transmission,doesn't burn oil,oil changes every 10tkm.
It's a blast to drive,luxury,comfort and sport in one car,have 123tkm,looks like last production models are free of early model problems.

I just had the crankcase vent pipes and filtered air ducts replaced under warranty for the second time. No more codes and runs strong. 2011 with 85k. It has also had all the various recalls done and injectors replaced. Will need to replace the firewall plastic bits again soon as they are starting to smell. Ours has served as a tow vehicle for a 4,500 camper and has generally not had it easy. Very little out of pocket except for brakes and air spring replacement. Great car if maybe a bit needy.

i have a 2013 X5M with 80k miles, have had it for 3years going on 4, so far I replaced the battery, vacuum lines, PCV vent lines, all coils and plugs (maintenance), both rear suspension air bags, and now my driver door soft close door actuator needs to be replaced. I love the car but I am looking to trade it in soon, maybe for new CTSV or a maybe an f85 x5m

not a bad milage for 2013! I had to replace pretty much same parts as you except soft close mechanisms and I'm still running original battery I'm currently seatting at 113k miles but only drive it couple of times a week for the last 6 mths, also going on to 5th year of ownership in about a month! bought it in 2015 with 32k miles.
I've been really considering G95 competition but probably couple of years down the road as for now if nothing major changes I'm planning to keep the car as I've got tired of low ballers!

Hey from Boston area and with a 2013 M as well. Where are you typically having service done? I'm now at 58K miles however it requires nothing (knocking on wood). Thanks.

OK here goes - owned since 2016 at 36,000 miles to it's current 75,750. BMW CPO warranty was a bad deal for BMW:
- Entire CIC Unit (twice)
- A/C Evaporator core
- Blower Fan
- Front driveshaft recall
- Both airbags under recall
- All 4 comfort access handles (painted) at different times, $600 each
- Crankcase vent hoses, vacuum lines while in there
- Steering wheel power extender
- Thrust Arms (aka tension arms)
- Rear EDC dampers
- Rear EDC wiring
- Front tie rod ends
- Front swaybar end links
- Three sets of tires
- 4 alignments - out every time, tires routinely unevenly wear
- High Pressure Fuel Pump (left me stranded)
- 8 Coils, 8 plugs, 8 injectors, air filters twice
- Both charge air cooling pumps twice, total of 4 pumps
- Comfort seats thigh bolster extender gears
- Charge air electrical circuit including wiring harness, relays and fuses (10hrs diag time to find the burning smell and list of codes)
- Both front wheel bearings
- Oil changes every 4,000 miles instead of the stupid 15,000 mile intervals
- Front, center, rear diff, trans oils
- Both front and left surround cameras - front bumper
- Camera cable from rear camera to unit
- Rear camera
- Camera module
- Windshield Seals and mouldings

The vehicle was also rear ended (stupid and not my fault) and required:
- Rear bumper
- Muffler ($2700)
- All rear panelling
- Heat shielding
- Support panels

The vehicle also struck a cable reel that fell off the truck in front of it (not at fault... again):
- front bumper
- front under tray panels and support brackets
- two charge cooling radiators

The vehicle was also backed into in a parking lot by a drunk driver (... again, no fault)
- front driver's door
- front door panel
- all associated panels and trim

Your experience will vary. Mine is in perfect mechanical condition (the body despite the painted panels is actually quite good), but the effort exerted to keep it that way has been exhausting

Lately I've been getting charge air circuit energy codes. I've never seen those before. Need a new battery as well. Also a soft-close door actuator once in awhile decides to pop my rear driver's side door open occasionally.

I've owned the E70 X5M since February of 2015. I picked it up as a single owner lease return with 15k miles, and have added another 40k (sitting at 55k). I've been very fortunate (knock on wood) to have the bulk of the issues that have occurred pop up early on in my ownership and be covered by BMW.

Aside from routine maintenance and high fuel costs, I've not had any major issues. Compiling this info was a good sanity check on whether owning this rig forever and driving till the wheels fall off is a smart proposition.

We purchased it as a daily for my GF, and at the time was attracted to the idea of a do everything vehicle. We've been very happy with the decision, and the X5M has delivered as a very usable and comfortable 5000 lb rocket that handles on rails.

Not sure if I'll keep her for another 10, or unload soon (leaning towards long term, and roll the dice).

Steering wheel plastic trim covers melting issue
Beginning to develop front end noise over bumpy terrain (possible sway bar end links?)
Rear brakes will be due in the next 6 months (first time for replacement since CPO UCI in 2015)
Occasional rattling from tail gate during temp swings (not recently - read that applying lithium grease or similar on seals is effective)
Split center console left side mechanism broken (still functional, spring resistance a bit messed up)

They are all the same except for the minor LCI update. Which is nothing major these cars are extremely robust and very well built the entire bottom and is forged I drive my car upwards of three digits every day sometimes in the higher sevens and eights I drive extremely aggressively I have a lot of mods ask me how many problems I've had with the car. 1 CCV vent #2 IC cooler lines - that's it ! Keep up with the maintenance keep up with the oil changes and use good gas tier one! - that's my two cents. And I'm a 25 yr master Ase tech ! - this vehicle is VERY ROBUST!!! / when you go a little bit crazy just let the turbos cool for a second warm up the car on very cold days. Common sense stuff. Good luck
