CPO Warranty Left on my Car?
Guys,
2011 x5 50i I was reading about transfer CPO warranty from non-BMW dealer before January 1, 2014 rule. So I can see in my AutoCheck report that the truck was CPO on 02/04/2013 current 4y/57k miles 02/04/2013 RALEIGH, NC 36,853 BMW Authorized Center VEHICLE IN DEALER INVENTORY (COLOR REPORTED AS BLACK) CERTIFIED AS BMW APPROVED CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE Is this mean that I still have CPO warranty for 2 more years or till 100k miles?

Based on what I know, you no longer have a warranty due to the purchase from non BMW dealer. However, the warranty would be available had you purchased from private seller. Call BMWNA to make sure.

Today I just transferred the CPO warranty on my 2011 that I got yesterday. Bought the car private party and the original CPO purchase I think was back in 2013. Since it was before the cutoff transfer was complete and didn't cost me a dime.

That's what I was thinking on mine as BMW dealer sold the car in 2013 too as a CPO. But I called BMWNA and they are saying it doesn't show anything for them and I need to contact the dealer who sold it.

BTW, cars CPO'ed prior to 2014 should have no problem transferring, even if bought from a non-BMW dealer (and non-private party transaction). |

All warranties begin when the car was first sold, be it 2010 or 2012 for a MY 2011. You need to find out what the date is when it was first sold. Six years later or 100k miles later you are out of warranty. Figure you have ~18 months left.

I called them and there is not CPO warranty.
Here is the quote the send me. Which one should be a fair one for the price. Looking to cover the main stuff on the engine and electronic. Or going for aftermarket one like Route 66

I'm not sure these are bmw warranties - are you sure your dealer isn't trying to sell you a 3rd party one?

I don't know, how to know? On the quote says Gemain BMW of Naples and I called them to send me that quote. Can they sell something else and not tell me? If it is like that I will sue them.

There is an inspection that the car has to pass for $250. If it pass, they will refund the $250 and sell you the warranty, If it fails, you will lose the $ and no warranty applies.

Please see attached for a comprehensive list of BMW warranties, and MSRP. You could ask your dealer to provide you with a sample contract, and see who the underwriter is . That should be interesting. Last edited by bmwx5er; 07-31-2015 at 12:17 PM.. |

sounds like a rip-off. the dealer stands to gain at least $250, no matter what the outcome.

I know for a fact, I've called BMWNA a few times to clarify this with my actual car. Each time, the rep had to pause, read the rules themselves over and over again, put me on hold before confirming the info. But at the end of the day, if his local BMW dealer doesn't recongize the CPO, then it's not there Now are they saying any car sold through non-dealer (not private) is not eligible regardless of CPO timestamp?

The last time I called about this was back in February. I called both my dealer and BMWNA to confirm my VIN which was CPO'd in Dec 2013 still had CPO on it.
