Zero Quantity Adaption Cylinder 6

Hey guys....

Started getting this code 004b25 thar last week. Read up on it and i am confused....do i need to replace the injector or adjust the adaption? I also read that the adaption will adjust itself over time. Does that mean this might go away on its own?

The car drives fine...i don't notice anything.

2013 x5 35d.

Any advice is appreciated.

normally such an error cause rough idle but you re saying car runs fine.. adaption is a never ending relearning process that yes it might go away as you ve said but im not sure it ll take away the codes also.. if i were you i d keep eye on idle closely and do nothing until feeling lose of power or idle changes..

Deleted? Have the injectors ever been replaced? I'm not sure if adaptation values can be "adjusted" manually, maybe reset. I would first make sure the injector codes are correct.

I was getting this error (cylinder 3) and the only thing that fixed it was swapping the injector codes 2<=>3 then driving for a few days then swapping them back. I read that the dde is the actual culprit and doing this made the dde recognize the values.

If you don't have ista definitely get it.

Hey Juno01....how did you swap the codes? I assume you use ista....do you just read them and then edit the one giving you the issue?

What do you mean by swapping codes?
Have you reset the adaptations for injector 6? You'll need an icom cable as the kdcan cable is too slow

I forgot to mention that i cleaned the intake manifold when i changed out a vacuum solenoid a few months ago. I have read that people have to do a wheel reset adaption after a carbon clean....

I am also getting a smoothness error in that cylinder along with the zero quantity adaption.

There's your issue. Replace the thermostat and the zero quantity codes should go away. 87-88c is operating temp

Awesome.... I had to replace mine on my 335d (same engine). That one i noticed in the fall would not blow warm enough air.

I will get it ordered today and let you know how it works out after I install it...thanks again.

Just curious.... what is the link between the zero quanity injector code and low coolant temp? I did notice that when i worked reset the check engine light it would usually come back after the engine was warm...never on a short trip.

The friction produced during opening and closing of the piezo injectors causes wear on the nozzle seat of the nozzle needle. This changes the injection quantity over the service life, which is compensated for by correcting the actuation duration. Injection quantity correction comprises the following:
• Zero quantity calibration
• Main injection quantity correction
The following function requirements are required for
this:
• Engine speed between 1,000 and 2,600 rpm
• Deceleration mode or driving operation greater
than zero
• Engine oil temperature greater than 80 °C

That's for CDI but it gives you an idea. Our motors run at 88c instead of 80 on CDI

Swap #5 and #6 injector codes, delete faults, drive for a few days, then swap them back. This worked for me but then I had the injectors out prior to getting the fault so I had recoded all injectors.

I don't use inpa enough but probably, don't know where. Ista+ can be used with the same cable for what you are doing.
