Check to see if your key fob receiver and all door handles are functional (comfort access).

I have a double whammy consisting of a short commute and it being a 3rd vehicle, so it may sit for a while. Rather than having to mess with the cords of a battery tender, this is 'permanently' mounted.

So far, so good - shows 'charging' through the glass, even with factory tint on a cloudy day.

Just hope it's enough of a trickle charge to prevent any issues.

Very cool I also have a very short commute and mine is a second vehicle that doesn't get driven daily so I'm having to run a cord from the house.

That's a great idea on the solar panel. Surprised that it only gives you 15 watts though, I had one roughly double in size that was rated at 80 watts.

Regardless, you're re-charging your battery at roughly 1.2 amps in best-case scenario, but even half that should be enough to keep your battery charged. Awesome!

This is one specifically made by Battery Tender - not necessarily looking to quickly charge, but rather keeping the battery topped up while it sits outside.

So far so good, as I have yet to have any issues.

If I did it again, I'd probably go with the 10 watt panel, only because it's a little smaller dimensionally - the 15w panel fits, but with slight modification.

Solar sunroofs should be a standard option on battery sucking BMWs.

I'm curious; have you ever slapped an amp-meter to see just how much draw there is when the engine is off? Just for grins, I'll do that when we get back down to Florida this fall, but I seem to remember a rule of thumb of .03 - .07A as being normal.

Mind you, that was before the days of computerization of everything in the vehicle including the ashtray

I'd like to check the power draw, but is a little tricky because would need to hook something up and then wait until the systems go into 'standby' mode.

I think part of my problem is a leaky rear airbag, so the pump comes on to keep it level.

Drove a V8 mustang over the weekend and love the sound of the American muscle - but the ride and ergonomics (rather, lack thereof) just don't do it for me.

BMW has the full package

A couple recalls completed today - New passenger airbag and fuel pump - plus a new battery! A little bit of a PCV scare, but it's all good.
