What did I do today?

Paid 4K+ for the latest round of maintenance. New plugs, front brakes replaced (rotors, pads, etc.), new battery, oil/filter change, other minor stuff.

Also got the crankcase vent pipe/lines replaced under a TSB, along with some additional ducting that was damaged as a result of failure. Just under the extended 10yr coverage!

86k miles and counting.

On friday I drove my X5 home wiht it's new motor, trans and transfercase. Drove wonderfully, with the exception of non working AC. Have to have it diagnosed, but at this point of the year in colorado, I'm not going to be using it very often. It might wait until the new year, as I'm travelling for work m-F through the end of the year. I put over 1200 miles on it, and it was nothing short of smooth and wonderful. The 33k miles transmission is eye opening, it is buttery smooth and quick to shift.

Fitted performance intercooler to my 35D.
I took off the outer front bumper and radiator duct to make the job easier.
Went in OK but keeps popping off the outlet hose under boost, so still work in progress. Next going to try a large jubilee clamp around the retaining ring...

Some other notes:
1) the old intercooler had about 250ml of thick oily sludge in it...
2) I tapped two 5mm holes in the bottom of the intercooler (in the inlet and outlet) so I can drain the oil as it builds up now. The wall thickness of this intercooler is way deep so no probs putting the drain bolts in.
3) Needed to file a chamfer in the inlet and outlet holes of the intercooler, otherwise the sealing o-rings weren't going on.
4) Had to cut off the two pairs of brackets off the car chassis in front of the ant-roll bar mounts. These brackets are not used for anything and restricted the new intercooler from going in...
5) Some youtube vids show that the radiator duct plastic, down by the intercooler, needs trimming back. I found this was not the case. If you remove the duct, the intercooler goes in and the plastic duct fits around it.

Installed RaceChip XLR and GTS Black yesterday. Just a piggyback, but so far it seems like a nice little bit of oomph for my daily.

I got the deep ones "Floor Liners". We get alot of snow in Canada over the winter months, and these are the best ones available for the e70.

Here is a stock photo, of what they look like from their website.

Might want to get the a/c fixed up for the defrost to work best, definitely helps when its wet snow or you have stuff with moisture inside.

Thursday I had the dealer change the Transfer Case fluid and reset the Adaptations. Got rid of all crunching/crabbing in tight turns! They tried to tell me I didn't need to change the "Lifetime Fluid" in the TC and I just laughed at them...

While I was there I paid too much for engine Air Filters (at least I got the Car Club discount), but it was a great opportunity to let my 12 yo help me change them out. It was good training because this job takes at least FIVE TIMES LONGER than any other air filters I have ever replace!! It's absurd how much work it is - removing body braces?!
The rubber edges of the plastic filter surrounds were both a little melted from the engine heat near the top center of the engine. Had to scrape some of them off the sealing perimeter, so it was helpful to have him holding the vacuum on the area while I scraped with a screwdriver.

Yep, very familiar with it. I'll be getting it looked at asap regardless, my work schedule is just kind of hectic with travel currently.

I finally took off the limo tint from the 4 doors and drove it around in twilight. I definitely want window tint - but I have to be able to see. I may leave the rear window (with defroster element) to a professional.

My E70 is trying its best for the 100k maintenance mark.
VCG has been leaking a week and now it’s horrible.
Steering wheel vibration when lightly accelerating above 40mph.
Bad xenon bulb on the left.

stopped being cheap and installed a new set of Delphi coil packs and finally got rid of a random misfire during warm idling.

Also installed jurid front brake pads. Cheap Bosch pads had terrible initial bite.

Hey everyone, my EGR Thermostat was leaking Coolant, I'm not a mechanical person but I've had this car roughly 7 years now so I decided to try replace it myself, and it worked out well.

Now, as I was on that I noticed that one mechanic replaced the Vacuum Hose with a nasty plastic one attached above and it kinked. Then I remembered that a few weeks ago I went to a Brakes & Clutch shop complaining that my brakes are no longer holding as good as they used be, sometimes they don't hold at all, they then spent less that 5 minutes with the car and quoted me to change Brake Booster, Vacuum Pump and ABS Module, the price was hectic so I told them I will come back. Then yesterday when I saw this kinked hose I went to buy a High Temperature one attached above, replaced it myself and suddenly brakes back to normal! I think these guys guessed that 1 of the 3 items is dead, changing all will by default fix my problem.

Now while at all that I noticed that my EGR Pipe has smoke on it as per the photo above, when I grabbed it and shaking it the pipe actually moves in and out visibly, and my car is on terrible limp mode, the guys I've tried so far failed to fix it. I'm just wondering if EGR Delete can help me get the power back? Or replacing that part rather. Anyone knows what may be the problem here! My turbo had died and got replaced, Particle Filter removed and ECU Delete was done so no errors!

Replaced D1S xenons with LEDs.
Very simple job! Last time I did it, I removed the wheel and the whole fender liner.
I looked it up again yesterday and the videos were right, I was able to change them from the engine bay. 5 minutes a side!

Right side had a bad ballast, which I thought I would forsure have to remove the wheel and liner. Luckily the X5M bumper has the huge grills. I was able to pop the grill out and access the ballast from there.
