First N63 first problems

Hello fellows,

I got myself a X6 with a N63 (non TU) and this beast eats 1L/500km (1/4 gallon over 310 miles) of oil.

I looked ub the CCV system an found oil in the intake system. Since the pre-owner told me he had replaced the oil seperator by himself I checked the compression because a healthy CCV shouldn't blow that much oil.

Compression test result started by 138psi (9,5bar) on cyl1 up to 152psi on the others.

So the compression test looks fine to me, which means that blowby shouldn't cause the problem of the CCV.

Now I don't know if the amount of oil in the intake is normal for this engine (don't have that experience with N63, I'm comming from the N54 community) or if I should replace the oil sepreator again because I'm not sure if it has been installed correctly by the previous owner.

Or should I look somewhere else? Do CSS fail so often on these engines?

The car smokes light grey with blue (like cigarette smoke) if it idles and you definitely smell the oil. No smoke while driving and accelerating.

The spark plugs on cyl1-4 are black from carbon buildup, cyl5-8 are fine.

When you rev the engine fews seconds later it begins to smoke. I could imagine thats the oil passing by CCV into the intake?

I heard the symptoms on the N63 are different from the N54 so I need your experience.

Well.. thats only for the US market. German people aren't so lucky.

Rebuilding the engine by myself would cost less. You have to proceed multiple tests and replacements of CCV, turbos etc before the dealer can send a request for a replacement engine. There is no guaranty how much you gonna pay out of your pocket for that engine.
