HELP! Trouble with Dealership
ok I have a 2011 X5 with 80,000 miles. Took it in for a minor oil leak and new rear brakes. $3700.
Fixed the oil leak, can't remember what they did but it was fixed. But that night the fan ran for 30 minutes after we shut off the truck. The next morning we found coolant on the garage floor. Back to the dealership! They assured me the oil leak fix had nothing to do with the new coolant leak. (even though later they said it was a pressurized system and the leak just worked its way to the next weakest point). So we had the coolant leak fixed. $600. Now we pick up the X5 and the sound doesn't work. Nothing, no radio, no dings, beeps, nothing. Sos malfunction on the screen. Back to the dealership number 3. They say this one has nothing to do with the previous fix. So another $2300! They said they would wave the labor costs and only charge $1500. So does anyone know if my X5 just happened to break twice right after it left the dealership, or if this sounds fishy. Never had a coolant leak problem until we took it in, and never had an issue with the sound. HELP! |

2 things. i have a 2010 and it sounds like they all have issue that no one wants to talk about at BMW. i have issues all the time. it does sound like they broke something when they fixed the original oil leak. the sound thing im not sure of unless they performed a software update and screwed something up. I would call BMW corporate and complain. they may be able to help you with the cost.

Sounds to me like malpractice of the dealership. After paying $3700 for brakes and an oil leak, you pretty much put a target on your back as someone they can overcharge right from the get go. Do yourself a huge favor and stop going to the dealership and find yourself an honest and fair independent shop. At this point I think it's worth complaining to BMW corporate as it's just too coincidental that these issues happened right after service. Whatever you do I wouldn't given them anymore of your money.

Stop going to the dealership, people, unless it's for warranty work. For the sake of your wallet and sanity, locate a competent independent mechanic. BTW, write up everything, send it as a complaint to the service manager, and contest all of the 2nd and 3rd charges with your credit card company. Provide them a copy of your complaint. The first grievous overcharge is on you.

Advantage BMW service is horrible. My X5 was serviced there and they jacked up a few things like breaking certain mounts, clips, etx that have since been fixed by myself. Just seems like they've got kids working in their service dept that just don't care.

Ha-ha thanks, thought it was just me. Very sloppy work by them. I have warranty so I'm searching for a new dealer.
