2013 X6M

Besides recalls, normal maint, and changing all fluids, air suspension bags and a battery, had my first engine issue the other day which turned out to be Crappy gas and a lack of use over the previous month...What I learned is that in winter, if left to sit... don’t let the tank get too low...Even 10% ethanol doesn’t sit well.

I’m at 112,000Km, no plans on selling...added the Android head unit.

Sorry to bump an old post but good information. I am getting ready to sell my E46 330i ZHP and have been looking into an E90 M3 or E70 X5M.

For those that work on their own E70 X5M, did you guys find lots of videos online for DIYers? One thing I have learned is to do with owning a BMW is doing my own work. Though I don't have a mechanical background, YouTube has taught me a lot and make it easier to work on my own things.

There's honestly not that many E70 X5M specific diy videos. Probably because there weren't that many made, especially compared to the e90 M3. Most of the basic stuff is out there. There's plenty of E70 videos

I've done over 200 hours in various maintenance items - there's content around major maintenance (turbo lines, turbos, transmission, etc.) but not as much as E46 or E92 I'd say. I relied on ISTA+ for the most part and found it to be very helpful.

The thing to keep in mind is that while there are some specific X5M things. Most E70 videos are applicable to the X5M, and so are the N63 5.0i v8 things. The major differences between a typical X5M is some engine changes, cooling, turbos, and etc. The Trans is a 6spd like most of the rest of the E70 line up, bigger brakes, more radiators, a torque vectoring rear diff, and they all come loaded with adaptative drive and edc. Which is an option on the rest. Anything I've wanted to tackle I've not had an issue finding Diy guides.

I find the biggest downside to working on any BMW is the lack of clearence in the engine bay, need for often special tools and attachments, and child like fingers with the strength of a gorilla. Then your good.
