Fun daily driver SUV around $20-$25k used?

I am looking to get a SUV daily driver that is also fun to drive and mod for around 20k-25k.

I was thinking a 2011-2013 Cayenne V6 or a 2013-2014 Wrangler Rubicon. How are these cars?

I really want a 2011-2013 cayenne turbo or 2014 RR Sport V8 but after factoring in a aftermarket warranty the price isn't too appealing.

Any other suggestions from you guys

cayenne's might be that to buy -- but they'll be more to maintain. jeeps are fine as long as the tranny hasn't been run into the ground.

there's pros/cons to each -- there are a lot of choices in that price range -- but it depends on what you consider 'fun' and the size you're looking for, including the options you're looking for.

You aren't going to find a 2011-13 Cayenne Turbo in that range unless it has 100k+ miles and an undesirable build/color combo. If your budget for a car is $20-25k then owning a ~$120-150k car that is expensive to maintain and repair probably isn't the best idea. What's the plan when you get that first $10k repair bill?

I'd look at the Wrangler and if you can stretch the budget, check out the new JL ones...I got one in August and it's awesome.

Hands down the original X1 with the big engine, if the car is big enough.

Wrangler?

When you mention Cayenne or V8 RR Sport I get the impression your idea of "fun" is performance. Wrangler is a different type of "fun." You can drive it with the doors off and enjoy the wind in your hair as you head to your monthly service appointment.

Easily the most fun SUV I've ever driven...that 1st generation X1 was fantastic.

Every other BMW SUV I've driven has sucked...lol. The newest X1 was pitiful.

what is fun? how does a wrangler fit with the rest?

Honestly, at that price point you are looking at maintenance nightmares.

Better to buy really cheap so u can keep up with maintence.
I would go with a ml55 amg you can get them under 5k.

or just get a used pilot/mdx.

Check out the Q5 TDI, great deals on them since dieselgate, lots of torque, and now they have a 10yr 120k mile extended emissions warranty that covers a lot (turbo, engine block assembly, exhaust components, etc)

I have a F25 X3 35i and although it is stock at the moment, it is fun to drive. The electric steering is a bit numb, but the 8-speed tranny makes up for it. It is a great little daily SUV and I average out 26 mpg. With MHD tune and a few bolt ons, it will be a beast

I was actually looking at the 2011-2012 Porsche Cayenne, but the V6 is slow compared to N55 and the V8 is gas guzzler. The V6 is pretty reliable engine though.

He doesn't keep cars long at all and it has warranty. It's a nice suv and its fun to drive. I would have sprung for the diesel version there is a tune for that model but they are more $$.

Any RR you can get for under $25k is going to cost you $25k to keep running.
