Need Help with Dash cam staying powered when car locked.

Hey, recently bought a 2011 X5. I am coming from an e39 which kept my dash cam powered when the car was locked thus allowing parking mode to function and record if needed. However on the e70 I noticed that it turns off right away when the key is removed. Is there a way to change this? Is it reprogrammable or maybe I am doing something wrong with the car? Are there any threads with the same problem because I was unable to find them.

I think the only way to do it would be a capacitor considering if you leave it, it will drain the battery and you'll get warnings all the time as well.

Any other possible solutions? Im not worried about battery drain at all, I daily the car and never had any such problems on my e39.

They have these battery packs that connect to. They only draw power when the car is running to charge it and will power the cam. They have Bluetooth and you can check the amount of battery etc. You can also get a cable where you can charge it in your house overnight in case it's running low.

If you're fine with it, there are ways to keep it powered 24/7, just need to find a line that's constantly hot, I think the cigarette lighters are.

Something cheaper would be this device called the Power Magic Pro. I have this and turn it on if I want to record when my car is off. I have it hardwired to the car's battery.

Another option would be to get this
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J67JIOQ/ and then plug the camera in there. You'll need to remember to charge your battery pack every once in a while though.
