Thinking of getting 22" wheels

Think of getting 22" wheels for my 2012 E70.
All the 22" set ups I see the front rims come with 295 x 30 x 22 tires. Are 295 to wide for E70 will they rub ?

Assuming the correct offset, no issues at all...

Hi,

That depends on the width of the wheels you are looking at using...

As an example, the OE 214s 20x10" have an offset of 40 in the front.
You can use this calculator to determine what would work with the width you are looking at:

I'm selling my 22's in the spring and going back to my style 214 - 20s with non RFT for that reason as well.

My 22 setup was 295/30/22 & 335/25/22

I do have 214 on now. Is it really that rough of a ride on 22? I am second guessing getting 22 now.

I’d say you should try 22 inch wheels and make your own opinion. I run with 10,5x22 inch wheels with offset 35 in the front, with 295/30 tires. A perfect fit in my opinion.

The thing I notice the most by switching over to 20 inch wheels with 275/40 tires in the winter, is that the steering wheel gets lighter. Mostly because lighter wheels, and secondly that I don’t have active steering.

In the end, it’s all about making a compromise between looks and comfort.

Do you guys forsee any issues with a 40mm offset in the front. Will 40 mm offset rub anywhere?

Get the 22's and try them out, I had mine on for 2 years but for me the roads up here in Canada had caused a couple rims to bend here and there. So I didn't want to watch for pot holes while driving so i'm heading back to care free driving on the 20's.

My 20's had RFT and when I went to the 22's they were actually a better ride. That's why when I go back to the 214's i'm going to take off those damn RFT's.

You'll be fine with the 22's dont worry.

Also run the DWS 06s on my 20" winter staggered setup, and on my wife's TTS, they are a GREAT tire.
Run Pirelli Scorpions on my 22" summer staggered setup, and love them too, wish they still made them

The ride is a bit more harsh on the 22s, but not night and day, if you have Sport mode, its about the difference between Sport and Non-sport settings.
I leave mine in Sport 100% of the time with both wheel setups.
You do have to be very careful about pot-holes though!

If you are running a 10.5" wheel probably not, but an 11" wide wheel you might want more like a 30-35 for inner clearance by the strut.

I believe the rim is 10". I was thinking of running 295 x 30 x22 in front with 40 mm offset

Kind of a wide tire for a 10" wheel, but within specs for the tire size, may look a bit odd.

The wheel offset and width as the same as the OEs (many styles with a 275 tire) so no issues there.

The tires are only 10mm wider on each side (295 vs 275=20mm/2) so you should have no issues with that either.

295 is the size the shop sells the rim with.
I would prefer 285 with continental dws 06 but they don't make a 335 rear.

I'm confused: 285 isn't a match for 335, 295 is...
If they don't make a 335 in DWS 06, what size are you looking at to match the 295 fronts?

I would have to go with a diffrent brand
pirelli p zero or Atturo 850.
What size are you guys running on 22?

So I pulled the plug and got 22". They are 612 replicas. Previous owner only had them for 3k.
They came with Atturo 850 tires.
Front 295 30 22 and rear 335 25 22
Previous owner recommend changing the fronts to 285 30 22. He said he had shutter sound coming from his transfer case on his 2012 x5 35i and he believes it was the tire diameter causing issues in transfer case. Anyone with issues with 295 30 22 on front.
When I compared the tires on tiresize.com
295 30 22 to 335 25 22 match had a 1.4% diameter diffrence. The 285 30 22 had .3% diffrence so do you guys think 285 is a better match and will not effect xdrive?
I have not mounted these wheels just yet I will wait till spring. I am wondering if I will have the same issue as previous owner. These wheels are going on 2012 x5 35d.
