X5 with rough idle and gas smell

Hello, I have a 2011 3.5 (115,00kms) with a rough idle and smell of gas in the cabin. Unfortunately I was on a road trip when the symptoms emerged (misfires and rough/stuttering power delivery at low RPMs). I drove home 400kms in sport mode simply to keep the rpm's up and avoid the constant chugging/stuttering. I don't feel as though I've lost power as I was still capable of passing as normal on the highway.

After some reading suspect a bad injector. The injectors were all replaced roughly 6 years ago and would have the equivalent of 60,000kms or 36,000 miles.

Would you agree that it's most likely an injector and is it normal to have them fail after this little mileage?

Thanks in advance!

I suggest that you check for error codes first. That'll help narrow down possibilities. Your vehicle can have codes triggered even if the CEL light is not on. Autozone or Advanced Auto will read the codes for you for free.

In the end it was a bad injector seal. Replaced and we're back in business.
