Selling my 535d Saturday, to get a roomier X5 35d for 3 toddlers and the cargo that goes with them.
But now I love the X5M.... Those with the X5M is that your only car? Or is it supplemented with something not so fragile? I have a Sienna for daily driving as well. The idea was to get an X5 daily driver and an E85 Z4 for fun... all within the next 2 weeks. But now the X5M is calling. |

I like the x5m not only for performance but the wide fender and 20” staggered wheels makes it look such an aggressive truck

I love my X5M, daily driven for almost 3 years, at 97k miles right now, best vehicle I ever own and I used to own Golf Diesel years ago so I know a thing or two about diesels.
Would love to get something smaller for the summer but in addition to X5M not instead!

I love my X5M, and it has been my daily since purchase.
Currently I have a few other vehicles, and have used my truck for moving big stuff, and drove it for a couple of days while I did the vent tubes and turbo inlets on my rig. That said, I plan to sell my Subaru, as I have no need for 2 turbo awd vehicles, and I feel too old for it any more. The truck is probably on the block as well, as it just sits, which would leave me with my little Honda track toy as a spare vehicle. |

I daily my X5M all winter long (drive the C63 most days of the summer warmer months).
X5M has to be one of the best cars ever, Generally reliable, very fast, very comfortable... I would buy another in a heartbeat

I dont have an X5M but I have an X6M and love it. Though Dont drive it daily since I take the train to work during the week. Its a great weekend car and been reliable to me. Initially, wanted an X5M but gf didnt like the look so ended up with the X6 again. I would get another X6M though should I replace my current one.

X5M
I'm on my 3rd X5M (2010, 2013, 2016).
It is NOT an east coast winter car! (I have an '05 4Runner for that). Some put winter tires on the M - I can't comment on the effectiveness of that, but I would think that would be a "must" for winter use. |

X5M's so called bad rep for reliability is unjustified. MOST are just fine. I've had no X5M specific malfunctions in 4 years. You just hear about the complainers mostly. The people that are happy with the reliability have no reason to make a thread about it. Owning an X5 vs an X5M should be considered comparable in terms of reliability.

Appreciate all the input. Haven't traded the car in yet but I'll be test driving the X5M shortly to make my final determination.
And being my east coast winter daily will in fact weigh heavily on my decision! |

The X5M is a whole new level unless you're looking into an X535d with adaptive drive. The adaptive suspension makes a huge diffference with these SAVs
We've had our X5M for a couple of years now. It did require a lot of maintenance items to be addressed at 70k but it's running like a champ now. It can be a pricey car to keep if you get all your maintenance and repairs done at the dealer. The X5M is fun a hella fast but the raw/analog driving experience from the supercharged Z3M is what I prefer when I don't have the kids. |
