E70 X5 instrument cluster current drain

Hi, I had a problem a couple of weeks ago where my instrument cluster went dead. I couldn't find out why but a couple of days later it started working! The problem I have now is something is draining my battery quite quickly(over night) After some time I have found that if I remove the fuse for the instrument cluster while the car is parked the drain stops. I wonder if anyone has had this problem and if a new instrument cluster would solve it or is it something the cluster is controlling? Also the idrive screen is on the menu page but I can't access any functions on it.

Many Thanks
Nigel
