150 K for my 35D E70.
No major issues. Gearbox flushed for the first time @140 K (when I bought it), oil was very dirty! Glow plugs with controller done last month due to a failure of the thermostat (stock one, from 2009...) |

2010 x5 35d
Coming up on 178,000 miles. Bought used in 2019 with 156,000. CEL was on and dealership agreed to fix it if I bought it. Turned out to be injectors 5 & 6 due to broken partitions. They replaced the injectors and I replaced the partitions and added RTV for a better seal. I have had to replace alternator, battery, boost pressure sensor, brakes and fuel filter. I also changed out all of the upper vacuum lines when I replaced the boost pressure sensor. I am now dealing with "glow plug cylinder 1" code. Car is jumpy/shaky when driving, so troubleshooting will be my weekend project. I LOVE this car when it's running right, but times like this I want to drive it off a cliff. . .

^I bet you got that thing pretty cheap though @ 156k in 2019. Glow plugs and module are overdue at that mileage.
Ours is at 166k currently. Bought in 03/2017 with 132k on it for $14000. Currently getting all new vacuum lines, motor mounts, fuel filter, guibos, and a whole host of other maintenance during a transmission replacement. Trans failed 02/2020 at 166k. Done a whole host of maintenance before the trans including the cooling system, full front suspension, active DEF tank rebuild, NOX sensors, full brakes, and a battery during our ownership. All of that is pretty expected for BMW diesels of this age. Total cost of purchase, maintenance, and mods in our ownership is $21,641.12 with me doing 99% of the work on it. Can't wait to get it back on the road but will probably sell it as the F15 has taken up the E70's previous duties. |

2011 35i currently at 108k. Purchased it in September 2020 with 102k. Dealer replaced oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket, shocks all around and new tires before I took delivery.

Yes Crystalworks, I got it for $10,000. My husband and I have done all of the work ourselves, so that has saved us a load. I've probably got a couple thousand in it for the repair parts and knick knack stuff I have replaced in the interior and on the body. So at $12-13K, I guess I can't really complain. Definitely planning on the glow plugs and module soon. I've been reading about a transfer case fluid flush lately. Do you know anything about that?

That's not too bad then. Haha, we've certainly spent more on our diesel. But we got ours specifically because it had the extended nappa leather, HUD, CWP, and other things we wanted. Much of the $7k we've spent on it has been due to the trans failure and "while I'm in there" things that are associated with it. I know it's frustrating when they aren't acting right, but at the mileages ours have on them... things are going to break here and there. I try to do replacements before something breaks, but that can be a slippery slope too. Yes, I've done both differentials and the transfer case fluids. Not terribly hard to do, but not "fun" either. I forget which one it is (rear diff I think) does not have a drain. Just a fill. So you have to suck the old fluid out first... then fill through that same hole. The transfer case I believe has a drain and fill hole though. If memory serves you need a very short allen key to use on the fill plug because space is limited between the crossmember or the trans, can't remember which. I purchased one made for a Jeep on Amazon that worked out well. |

2008 x5, 105K miles - new to me.
Just picked up a 2008 X5 with 105k miles for 2.5K from my neighbor. Fixed a broken AC compressor for 700, replaced the 8.8 screen with an android 10.25 headunit, need to.address a broken parking brake cable and intermittent transmission error.

I've got a 2012 X5 35D with 118,000 miles haven't had any issues thus far, until last week there was a significant loss in power and an engine knock between 2500-3500rpms have not had it checked out yet if anyone has had a familiar issue would appreciate the help! https://share.icloud.com/photos/0CLE...Hendersonville

^You have any codes to go with the loss of power? Could be a list of culprits listening to the video.
Here's our 167000+ mile 35d back in service after being down for ~16 months for a transmission replacement. Lots of fun to be had there trust me... did loads of other maintenance too so I wouldn't have to touch it again for awhile (knock on wood). |

122k here on our '12 35i Msport. Wife loves it, she even says that she likes it better than any of the many lease cars that we had through work (F25, G01, G02, F15, F30). Runs and pulls great with the DP and MHD tune but I just wish it were a bit smoother in delivery (MHD sucks for smoothness at least on N55, my e90 N55 is the same). Shifting was kind of crappy so I replaced fluid and filter and will probably rebuild the valve body in trans to smooth the shifts out more.
I'll likely be doing shocks in the near future since they must be toast at this mileage. Any recommendations? I'm bouncing back and forth between Bilstein B12 kit and OE Sachs from FCPEuro. I need to make sure it's still comfortable for the family to ride in!

As far as dampers are concerned. Sachs from FCP is a great option if you're planning to keep the vehicle and want OE durability/longevity. |

I think I probably will just go with the Sachs replacements. Between those, strut mounts, and all the little foam pieces I think it's only like $500.

I guess I am in the club now as I just hit 105,000
The X5D is aging like fine wine and it's driving better now then ever with all the preventative maintenance and upgrades I have done. But wait ...there's more (planned)! Evan

I did replace the transfer case mount as mine was totally broken. I will probably be doing engine mounts too in the near future. I don't know if these vehicles have the same failure at the rear diff mounts like the cars do (E46, E90, etc).
