X5M buying advice

Long time BMW owner here. In the past I've had about 6 e30's, an e39 M5, an e60 M5..etc. I'm currently looking for an e70 X5M and I'm wondering what to look for when buying. Is there a buyer's guide anywhere? What would you look for as owners?

Maintenance records - especially regular oil changes. Also, make sure the injectors have been replaced under the recall. Common failure points/regular maintenance items are the turbo vacuum lines that run across the motor, turbo oil drain lines and also the turbo coolant lines that are on top of the motor will leak over time. These are DI motors so they will suffer from carbon build up on the intake valves and this is why I put a dual catch can setup on mine. Other than that, the S63 is a pretty good motor and doesn't suffer a lot of the same issues as the N63.

My X5M had the transmission replaced at 50K, turbos just before I bought it at 64K miles. That, together with all the recalls (injectors, drive shaft, auxillary pumps etc) and other repair items (vacuum lines, suspension joints etc.), together with regular oil changes at 5K. I figured with so many items already repaired/replaced it will be awhile before I ran into the same problems. 2 years and 14K miles later, only had to replace the coolant reservoir and its been running like a Champ.

Good to know, the one I'm looking at now is a 2013 with 57k miles. Is there a comprehensive list of recalls anywhere?

Looks like a very good deal.
Grab it before someone beats you to it.

WTH? Look at some of the options they list:
  • Brake energy regeneration to convert kinetic energy into usable electrical power
  • DVD-based Navigation system -inc: voice activation, Real Time Traffic Info
Never heard of brake energy regeneration on an X5M?

Also the Nav system is CIC for the 13' model and not DVD based (CCC - older version) and is all updated via USB and is Hard Drive based.

It's actually this one: https://www.mycartopia.com/used.cfm/...Y0C5XD0C11673/

Mint inside and out, PPF on the front and half hood, also on the side in front of the rear wheels.

I'm going to pass on it because I'm looking for blue with silverstone interior, but damn I was tempted. I've seen 4 so far and that was the best one yet.

I saw that advertisement too.
Its got low mileage.
Better to grab it. The ones too far away to drive and see are not worth the hassle.

LOL NO. I paid 25k for 62k miles, flew and drove back 1200 miles, basically one owner with every record possible, full clear bra, no dogs, no accidents. Good examples are out there but you have to be *patient*. No way that car is work 38k. 38k almost gets you into a 2015+

The one you posted has 58k miles. Thats only 4k miles less than the one I bought. Are you referring to a different car?
