Exclamation X5 E70 3.0si Fuel consumption issue

Hello dear Members, hope you are enjoying the x5 ride.
I have 2009 X5 E70 3.0si and have recently noticed the urban fuel consumption is 4.5KM/l which i guess is unreasonable for any 3.0L engine.
I am using 95 octane and have recently changed the lube 5W-40 (fully syenthatic) and have also replaced lube filter. Vehicle is smooth and pickup is good.
Can anyone tell what possibly is the issue with such horrible fuel consumption. Regards,

Hey, Middle East... means lots of running idle with aircon on. 20 litres on 100km is not unreasonable at all.

Are you doing all city driving? speeds under 50mph?

10.5mpg is pretty bad. I thought 16mpg was bad on my 3.0.

Thank you guys for taking interest.
@Rodnex, i have another Car 3.6 turbo engine which is pretty much better than this.
@SF07e70, yes i am using that car for school pickup and dropoff of my kid which is within 5KM from home and within the city where i cannot cross 60km/h due to trafic and humps.
However still i think it should give more milage.
I got it diagnosed from a mechanic who plugged in the computer/repair code reader device. Found variable valve solenoid (VVT) error. Mechanic just cleaned the solenoid pair and plugged back in. Error was reset and it did not apear again. The fuel efficiency improved a bit but not much.
