I have a question and hopefully you don't mind sharing... what was the difference in $ between the stock steel hood vs the powerdome? How much were they willing to cover vs what you paid for the powerdome I guess is a better way to ask it.

Not really. First off, the top surface of my knob arrived scratched and appeared used. I repeatedly contacted AVINUSA for another sticker or trade in, but true to form they ignored me. Their customer service is non-existent.

Nothing wrong with the button, but with the CF steering wheel trim, felt all black was the way to go, IMO. Let me know if you want it...you can have free.

I haven't installed the tips I bought and coated. I'll probably go with them, but am contemplating a diffuser and that makes a diff at install.

I've been distracted for a while building a dual suspension bike. But I did install front 10mm spacers and double spoke kidney grills today. Pic of kidney grilles below plus keeping engine clean. Car is filthy and once clean will post pix of 10mm front spacers.

Kidney Grill Installation Tip #1001 - I used a handful of old credit cards and slid them under each clip until the grill popped out. Upon install, slide in top first and ensure the top clips are engaged, then rotate down. You will need a flat head screwdriver to gently pry out the clips to friction fit against the hood tabs as you push the grill in. I eyed the mounting of the X5M badge prior to grill install since I was half serious about installing the badge. It came out looking ok. I used JBWeld Clear and it's solidly mounted, however I feel it's a little crooked. Ordering a second pair, of kidney grills and remounting badge with a level after grill installed...

Not clean, but spacers all around...

Hey All,

Spent some time this long weekend replacing the microfilters under the hood and even though it was raining outside I cleaned the wheels and lenses. The car is filthy, but I took some pix to show off the 10mm/15mm spacing..and a couple interior shots. I need to get this lowered soon, parts on the bench. I'm writing a detailed DIY to get familiar with the job before doing it, as well as identify replacement parts and needed tools I don't already have on hand.

Polished exhaust tips...

I know everyone has their own favorite detail products, here are mine...

I cleaned tips using Optima No Rinse, then used P21S to polish each tip, and wiped on some Boeshield T9 which leaves a hydrophobic coating. 15 minutes.

OT...MTB Build

OFF TOPIC....

I thought I'd share a couple pix of the MTB that had me distracted for months. It's 1000X the bike I need or deserve to ride. Transparency, I'm not an avid MTB rider I just love to build bikes and research components.

I got a deal on the CF frame-only b/c it had a paint chip. Then, I told myself I would only build the frame assembly...ended up with a Yeti SB5 dual suspension, SRAM XX1 Eagle drivetrain (less crank), 180mm/160mm 4-piston Magura MT7 PRO brakes, Fox Factory 34, Fox Factory DPS, Fox Transfer Dropper Post, 54 Tooth DT Swiss 240 Hubs, etc. WAY TOO MUCH bike for my type of riding with my kids, lol.

Nice job on the car so far. What lowering option did you go with? I like my H&R 1.2" kit but i think i am aching to get KW V3s now.....The roads here are getting stupid with speed humps (9-10 on my way home)...so its kinda getting uncomfortable for me now.....

Thanks! I have a Dinan setup waiting for install...but have also been thinking coilovers. With a coilover setup I assume the active susp. connectors are useless and get zip tied out of the way...do we need coding to handle this?

Well I think we have rather similar tastes, as my last bike purchase was a Yeti SB4.5 to ride on my AW X5M haha. Yours looks like a nice fun build, I just went for one of their standard build packages, and since they spec them based on what kind of terrain I ride being local to Yeti, it works well for me.

I am a much more casual rider than I used to be, but my last expensive bike purchase basically lasted me 20 years with some updates along the way, and still hangs out giving the Yeti company.

With the kwv3 you get module's that plug into the edc to cancel it out so no coding necessary.

Haha, it appears so! You're right, these bikes are solid. I started out wanting to build an Ibis, but am really glad I ended up with a Yeti.

Just saying that the KWV3 will be much more comfortable than just springs, this vehicle has a stiff ride and I guess with age I'm getting bored of riding these bumps twice a day.

My E46 M3 is way more comfortable on GC DAs

I miss my M3's...I had a dinan setup on my E46 and ran TCK on my E36. I really loved TCK, buttery smooth...at least that's what I recall...

Very nice. TCK is great too for the E46 M3. If you can try to go for the KW V3 for the X5M. Last day to save for cyber Monday. Check ecs for offers and pricing.

Sup, nice ride there. I am new to this X5 M. I recently bought a 2012 with 60k miles. I want to do that Android Screen swap. How did that work for you? Were you able to continue using the steering wheel controls and center knob? In your honest opinion, was it worth the money? Thanks ahead of time. Great looking ride.
