X6 wheels on x6m

I just bought a 2011 x6m and I can buy used x6 wheels with winter tires for a good price. Will they fit with no mods needed? I'm confused about the whole axle size thing. Thanks!

Sorry bud, I have no idea. If i was a betting man, I'd say you should be ok unless the calipers on the M are sitting out more compared to a regular X6

I called a highly recommended BMW dealer, and they said the x6 wheels would not fit.

But I read online, that the rear hub is the problem. X6 is 74mm, x6m is 72.5mm.

But, the hub should fit because it's 1.5mm smaller, so there's a small gap.

It's really got me perplexed, I can save about $2000 buying used winter tires+wheels which means I can get a tune!

If the latter really is the case, run hub rings. I've done it a few times on other vehicles with no issues. It's weird because I've seen other vehicles which had non-hubcentric wheels on with no vibration.

You were misinformed. The hubs on the e71 x6 and x6m are exactly the same. 72.56 mm in the rear and 74 mm in the front... I ordered wheels and they sent me x5 fitment (72.56 all around). I had to get the fronts bored to 74 mm. You can only install hub rings if you were trying to fit wheels with larger hub (eg. going from 74 to 72.56 mm). Otherwise you need to bore the hub larger going from 72.56 to 74 mm.

I run 20inch E70 x5 Y Spoke rims for my winter setup. They are 74.1... so I use 72.56 to 74.1mm hub centric rings on the rear. I also use 10mm Spacers on the rear to make the set up look normal. iIts the E53 X5 that’s 72.56mm.

Thank you very much for clearing that up. I got the wheels and I think I should be able to run them just fine.

Awesome, thanks! I'm in Canada as well, where did you get those hub centric adapters?

Spacers....

I normally grab hub centric rings off Ebay or AliExpress.

autoshack in Canada has spacers if needed.

And free shipping...
