New e70 owner feels questions
Hi everyone I just got myself a 2013 X5 35i. Would be great to hear any tips on the car. Couple of questions
1) what gas do you guys run, always super 91/93 or is 89 ok? 2) I have the stock 19 in wheels and tires but at some point I might want to upgrade to 20s, I also heard people do a staggered setup. What sizes tires are recommended ? Also do the tire pressure sensors still work when changing the wheels? Should I still be purchasing run flat tires? |

Mileage? Oil change between 5k to 7k miles, keep an eye on oil leaks . Valve cover which you can smell inside the cabin and most important oil filter housing , it could zip into alternator or worse accessories belt causing slippage and getting suck inside the engine through front crank seal. Over 100k change all fluids ,consider water pump , accessorie belt, tensioner, coils, spark plugs, injectors. Buy from fcpeuro so you can get lifetime replacement on all parts
#1 . No 89, 91/93 is a most #2. 275/40r20 front 315 35 20 rears . You can swap TPMS from your stock wheels but is no worth spending the money, you can buy a new set in tire rack for under $200. No need for run flats |

69k miles on the car, previous owner was very diligent with service
I've been hearing kind of a metallic sound when I accelerate and it goes away when I let off the gas is that the turbo? Reason for run flats is I have 3rd row option and no room for a spare |

I have 3rd row as well and went away from run flats. Scissor jack, patch kit and DC powered air compressor is in the back under floor storage. You can buy all that with the money you will save by not getting run flats. You also have more/better tire options if you go away from them.

I have 55k on my 13 e70 and I only use premium when I go to a service station that doesn't offer mid-grade. I bought mine new and haven't had any trouble. The manual says 89 recommended and so the gas cap. Vehicle runs like it did the day I bought it.
Not sure about the sound you are referring to. The 3 liter in my e70 is similar to the non-turbo in my son's e92. The sound is quite similar with differences I attribute to the turbo. |
