Did the previous owner remove the IBS connector?

I just bought a non-running 2009 535i xdrive. I'm not sure what all the previous owner knew and hid versus ignorance, but I knew I was signing up for a challenge....

After the car sat for a year dead, he replaced the OEM battery with a duralast.... I have now replaced it with a BMW battery made for the car, and one thing I want to rule out is the IBS gone bad. However, I went to disconnect the IBS and see the following -- is this standard on a 2009? I thought it would have a disconnect....

Is there any other way to remove the IBS from the equation? I don't think removing the positive cable that runs to the negative terminal is enough (maybe I'm wrong), but maybe there's a fuse or... I can cut the wires and install connectors

Thanks!
Jess
