Purple Headlight

My 2009 X6 35i just started getting the purple headlight on the passenger side. Is this just a straight ds1 bulb exchange or could it be something else?

EDIT:

I just replaced the light with a D1S bulb from the autoparts store. Install was straight forward, although working in the tight spot with no visibility is a pain in the butt.

The following is for a 2009 X6 35i

1. remove the cover by turning counter clockwise a quarter turn.
2. remove the bulb housing by turning counter clockwise a quarter turn.
3. pull out bulb housing and remove wire.
4. take off the plastic ring from the old bulb by pushing in on the plastic connector and opening it up. It pivots on one side.
5. reverse the process and enjoy the white light.

Sounds like a bulb issue. To be sure, you could swap it with the driver side and see if it reacts the same.

xenons dont die right away and sounds like its about to die.. it ll be better to change both of them..

Good idea about swapping them. I will stop by the auto parts store this morning if they are open during our lockdown.

Sounds like a ballast on its way out.

I went to the parts store a few weeks ago and bought a new bulb. Problem solved and no more purple. Thanks.
