Motor run on 2011 X5 35d

So, motor was running rough, a lot of smoke. I let it set for 20-30 min, started up and it was still smoky/rough idle; I gave it some acceleration pedal and the motor redlined, foot not touching pedal, I had to pull key from ignition to get it to stop.

Towing it now.

How could the motor go full load without foot on accelerator? Any guesses?

Ok, I had a runaway condition

I guess the throttle closed and saved / shutdown.

From what I have read/ the Runaway can be due to 2 problems (letting oil into the intake)

1. CCV/vortex breather

and/or

2. Turbo seals leaking oil back into intake

Soliciting advice to Identify exact cause & repair. Thank You
