Smoking brakes

I just had my front brakes replaced. Noticed smoke coming from brakes. Is it common on 2011 X6 M.

could be the coating they put on the rotors in shipping to keep them from rusting burning off.... if it continues after a couple days id look into it more. but that's normal

if you braked hard with new pads you may already damaged them though.. but if you didnt after few days smell, smoke should be gone..

Strangely enough, the instructions on a complete set of hp rotors/pads I had bought for my GC SRT advised the exact opposite. Brake hard from 60mph to a complete stop, then let go of the brakes immediately and do not apply brakes for at least a minute or two. Repeat....

My usual bed in for pads and pads/rotors is brake 1/2 a dozen times 30-50km to 10km....nice and easy...then a faster one at about 80-90km...then pull over let em cool...then easy braking for the next while...never had a problem...and usually only get smoke when when coated rotors are used. That goes away quickly...
