First BMW
Picked up my 1st BMW today. Have been checking them out for years but things change and get more expensive..., so I decided to go older. Picked up a 2012 X5d. I am the 3rd owner and from the looks of it, inside and out, both previous owners took very good care of it. I got it for a price I am happy with and I just love the ride, the deceptive power for such a heavy vehicle. The only thing that kind of has me pissed off a bit is putting diesel in it. This is also me 1st diesel and have stopped at (2) gas stations and one nozzle was way to big to get it in the hole and the second one smaller in diameter but would not fit in the hole and was a pain and ended blowing some out when it filled, I understand that I may be able to buy an adaptor because diesel nozzles are not standardized in the U.S... ?

Welcome to BMWs!
Diesel nozzles are mostly standardized nowadays but there are some older style smaller diameter nozzles left. They also tend to wear out and turning them 90deg might help open the flap. The adapter also works, but then you have to have a nasty diesel stained piece of plastic in your vehicle. The best option is to remove the idiot flap all together.
