I've spent the last couple weeks working on building a basic structure to mount a camera rig to and finally did some testing yesterday. I know this is slightly off topic but I thought I'd share a quick photo of what my initial build looks like. If you're curious as to what kind of stuff I shoot, check out http://phillima.com

this is impressive

can I take a wild guess that all this camera equipment cost as much as the car?

Thanks! It looks simple, but was definitely a challenge to put together in a solid/safe way.

You're right about the value of the camera equipment... I was testing it with my old camera, but even with that the camera/gimbal/arm comes in almost exactly the same as I paid for my X5M. Once things are dialed in, I'll be using my higher end camera which alone costs $30K, so nearly doubling what I'm testing with now.

Thanks. Looks like TSW discontinued the 22" some time ago and have not been able to locate leftover inventory. Oh well.

Considering the car is now coming up to 12 years old and my old steering wheel was very tired and worn, I installed this wheel which I had hanging around. Looks much better and freshens the interior up a little.

My next investment is a Android / CarPlay screen. The old iDrive needs an update me thinks

Not sure if you're serious Just lift up, 14 MM socket, .54 on left, .96 on center, and .58 on right, all in liters, and it's good.

I am serious, I want to do all of the maintenance that you've been doing lately, but haven't done it before and don't have a lift, so I'm worried about the levels being wrong when I lift it etc.

I did all the fluid changes without a lift as well and it really isnt the bad, the only thing I used a lift for was the trans service if I had a lift for all the other things I would have used it as it makes everything that much easier , you'll be alright! just have something to measure how much fluid you took out is how much you put back in.It was my first time ever changing them pretty straight forward just read up alot of DIY forums and went forward with it!

I actually used ramps for both front and back wheels as I have two sets.

Well, not today but Friday:

2nd Parking brake failure event. At a gas station. Waited five hours for the CORRECT truck to arrive. Told the first guy he will NOT be dragging my car onto a flatbed.

So, we had a lovers spat. I cursed Bridgette (My 2009 X5) all night Friday night and into Saturday. Told her she just got a new Valve Cover, belt tensioner, and OFHG a couple of weeks ago and had no reason to be throwing these tantrums. Then finished some school work and settled into finding out what I could do to fix this mess. Dealer or Indie. Loaner car or rental. Decisions, decisions.

I have always told whoever cares to listen, that BMWs are like expensive mistress. They give you great pleasure and thrills, but will break your bank

Serious Question, What's the "correct" truck if not a flatbed?

One with a cabled, 4 wheel toting, mini trailer to go under the rear wheels would be my bet.

Flatbed is the right truck, the trick is loading and unloading it right. Either the driver needs dollys for all four wheels or he will need to jack up the X5, take out the transmission protection plate, and twist the bolt that disengages the parking pawl and pops it into neutral (this is the for the 8speed, think the 6 is different and has a release under the cup holder). BMW made it so easy!
