2012 X5 Low KM's Considering buying

This vehicle is being offered to me at a very good family rate. Before I purchase it I wanted to do some research into what needs to be replaced. Water pump? Fuel pump? Any advice on upgrades and replacement items needed for this vehicle or where to search would be appreciated. 30K miles on the vehicle.

2012 and only 30k ?

That is a great catch.

Test drive for a 50 miles on a highway and see if any engine lights come up.

Why would you replace anything at such a low mileage.

At that mileage, mechanical items are probably fine. I would actually take a closer look at the rubber seals in the engine bay and transmission. Those can crack and begin leaking if the car is parked and not run.

Thanks for the feedback. Oddly enough, a transfer case issue has appeared. I am looking into it further but at low speeds turning left or right, there is a shudder and binding occurring. It could be a costly fix...It sounds like this is a common problem with the 2012 xdrive?

Have you already bought it ?
This is the reason he could have sold the X5.
It will be a costly repair for you.

Just do proper PPI at Bmw specialist.
They will disclose to you what items need replacement on the car.
I would guess all 4 tires are not the same?

Thankfully no, I haven't bought it yet. The more I research into this year, the more it doesn't look like a reliable vehicle for long trips...

I'll say these are high maintenance vehicles. Fun to drive and own.

But they are not cheap or indestructible. No vehicle is totally reliable. Ive owned so called bullet proof vehicles and they break too. Lets be realistic here, this is a 8+ year old car, and time can be as hard as milage.

For long road trips we routinely use rental cars.

An old used BMW is not a goOd idea for a long road trip.

A NEW leased BMW would make a great road tripper
