add a spare key?

I recently purchased an e70, but only have one key for it, and need to add a spare key.
What is involved in this process?

I've already bought a new key, it arrives today. I've been doing some light coding using bimmercode, and one of the issues that concerns me is I see several keys listed. Of course I would love to delete the keys that I don't have and add the new one.
I am afraid to just assume that the one key I do have is #1 and delete the rest.

Not sure on Bimmercode but on Ista, it would not let you delete the key that your are currently using with the ignition on.
