Oil leak from intake manifold??
Hello,
I thought my leak was from the valve cover gasket and oil filter housing. I replaced the oil filter housing gaskets, drove it for a little bit (less than 100 miles) and was still leaking so I decided to do the VCG and walnut blast the intake valves while I am at it. When I pulled the intake manifold two things struck me: 1) no oil on the top of the manifold and no evidence of oil leaking from the VCG on this side 2) oil dripping from the intake ports Is this a normal amount of oil to see here? https://drive.google.com/open?id=18P...ZAlE0HGXxVEnDY |

The continued leaking could be from the VCG on the other side and oil spilled during the OFH gasket job- I spilled a fair amount and it wouldn't surprise me if it is still dripping/burning it off.
Anything I should be doing/replacing while I am in this far? Thanks! |

Its not uncommon for turbocharged bmw to have oil in the intake. Bad pcv or turbo seal may have cause excess oil in the intake track. Although even with a working pcv system, oil will still seep past through.
Ive had two N54, two N55, N63, and currently S63. All experience some kind of oil in the intake areas. Which is mostly where the oil consumption is at. The N54 experience the most oil consumption out of those 4 engine. |

I'll second what Twin said, bad pcv or turbo seal and add to also check your oil return lines. Mine were clogged so bad it was shooting oil right into the intake and burning a quart every 120 miles or so. Cleaned the lines and was good to to. So check in the order as follows: PCV system, turbo oil return, then turbo seals.
