Here is one, I got mine for cheaper from a seller in Germany. I paid $169 US. It's a legit BMW part. It plugs right in and fits perfect, works perfect. |

Same error > cut wires = :-(
Hey Guys
I made the into the idiot club! I did not look up the easy removal method for this thing and cut it out
DeeO I think you may have helped someone with this same issue. Any advice? Looking for advice on what to do from here. If the answer is "take it to the dealer" I'm ok with that.. but would love to have a little more information on hand on what exactly I should expect them to be charging me for. Coding I assume, but there was no fiber optic in that cable group so what exactly was removed that caused the functionality loss? Possible I shorted the USB Hub device under the gear shift? (USB does not have power) Anyways, ANY help would be appreciated. I tried the volume reboot.. tried looking for a bad fuse in the rear right. No joy. If someone here can assist/finds the right answer.. I will paypal you. |

UGH. sry...
ANY way at all to splice what you cut back into original place, just to see if you can put it back the way it was? I have nothing else to offer you unfortunately.

Yeah that should fix it. Just follow the DIY on here pulling off that long carpet panel on the side, find the wires, unclip them then reassemble. The point of this thread was that people were having issues when cutting the wires and eventually found they had to disconnect properly to fix. The hardest part is figuring out how the clips work. Good luck!

Glim, terrifIc instructions and photos - this worked perfectly. I’ve long wanted to take the outdated cradle out but had been concerned with leaving a mess or shorting something out. Your PDF link is great, everything came apart and went back together as shown. Cheers!

Resurrecting an old thread here I know, so my apologies ahead of time..
I finally got around to removing this atrocity, but now I have the big hole in the back of the console. I went to good old realoem to look up the blind plate part number. But when I went to FCP euro and other sites looking to purchase it, I find that instead of the suggested retail of $6.75 on RealOEM, its selling for between $62 and $75 dollars?!? Has this little piece of plastic really gone up ten times in price? |

Thanks for making this thread. Followed the full procedure though to remove it and it took like 15 mins?
I can't spend 70$ on a little piece of plastic so I just removed the one on the stock cradle unit to fill the hole. Works well! |
