It has come back into mainstream popularity since then but objectively speaking it's garbage. Mumble is fun when you are drunk and partying but serves no other purpose to me. The worst is people who argue it is superior to "old rap" and give a blank stare when you mention the likes of Nas.

I have a buddy who is a DJ who gets really heated when people criticize Mumble lol. Makes sense as it goes hand in hand with partying.
Agreed.
Hip-hop died a while ago.

I haven't listened to the radio in years.

Can't forget about Big L and Big Pun, legendary IMO.
Actually, Fat Joe's early albums were pretty darn good too, got that flow.

Nas' early works were also pretty good.

And then, there's the unforgettable Mobb Deep.

I grew up to 90s rap (Nas, 2pac, Biggie, Bone Thugs, Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, DMX, and so on). With the exception of a few classic hits, if I had to pick one artist to listen to forever, I would pick Drake's entire catalog over everyone.
You have got to be kidding me. Drake.

That's a legitimate criticism but a ton of music over the past 40 years (esp Top 40 stuff) has glorified drugs, sex, etc.

Oh yeah I was just saying in general. If I disagree morally with the lyrics I won't enjoy it.

Also there is the whole thing about there not being any intrinsic artistic talent in the modern music world - especially "rap".

I'll be on the opposite end in terms of opinion, theres some good shit out there. I like the old stuff too, but not going to ignore that theres some pretty solid new albums. Lil Wayne's Carter V was wild, Mac Millers new album was great even in terms of instrumentals.

Currently listening to JID's new album Dicaprio 2 and it is really good. To each their own tho

Dont get me wrong theres a lot of terrible stuff out there too.

The man has made an insane number of songs. Are you truly saying you hated each and every one of them? Or do you hate his music by default, simply because it’s Drake?

I think you'd enjoy this underground rapper Hopsin. Check him out on YouTube.

He raps about positive stuff. But on the downside, he's hella corny which is why he hasn't achieved mainstream success. Eminem game him a shout out recently though so he's got the dude's approval.
