Any problems with 2010 X6M or 2011 X6M

Hey, I am looking into getting a 2011 X6M but was wondering if anyone has had problems with them?

My left mirror keeps losing its position and sets itself to point down. Its driving me crazy but I don't feel like going in to get it fixed before my oil change is due in a few months.

Other than that it's perfect!

I have the problem someone else has reported regarding the front brakes squealing when cold in Reverse. It only seems to happen when they are cold, under light pressure. This is a minor problem and there are ways to stop it from happening.

This vehicle has so many impressive features, that a problem or two does not in any way decrease the exhilaration I have in owning and driving one.

My brakes used to squeek when it was cold out and it was embarassing pulling up to a stoplight in a 100 thousand dollar car and hearing a screech. People looked at me like I was driving a hooptie.

I complained to the dealer and they finally agreed to replace the rotors, brakes and calipers under warranty. After that it stopped squeeking.

I forgot to mention that I drove my car over a mountain pass when it was snowing out. The road had volcanic rock on it for traction. The little rocks got kicked up and put lots of little scratches in the clearcoat along the bottom of the rear doors on both sides.

My recommendation is dont bother driving the car where they use gravel or volcanic mixtures as a traction agent on the road because the tires will spray it directly on the lower parts of the rear doors. I even had the clear coat 3M adhesive door jam tape sold by BMW and it scratched and chewed through that also.

+1 on the squeaky brakes, they are annoying as hell when it's cold in the morning and the neighbours say hi to you and then see you backing out of your driveway making a terrible loud noise.
And I would also not recommend driving through volcanoes

+1 on the squeaky brakes.....

Amazing launch control...OMG!
Very good handling
Excellent acceleration!
Excellent brakes...when warm.
beautiful interior...go with the full leather.
I am having a hard time finding a great seating position...Ok though.
I have premium sound and sat radio sounds muffled. I have adjusted the tone to no avail....thoughts???
I don't get as many looks as I'd thought. All bite and little bark...lol
Getting 14-15 mpg in city with a heavy foot. I think that's pretty good.

Overall.. love it..after 3500 miles.

I know its not an X6 but....I traded my 08 M3 for my X5M and could not be happier. For some reason I never fell in love with my M3 even though it was a fantastic car. I actually am in love with the X5M and I cannot explain why.....I just love the dammed thing. BTW....no issues (except as noted above some break sqweak) with 4K in 6 weeks since new.....Steve

I'm just like you, for some odd reason, I dislike my 09 M3. BTW: How much did you get for trading your 08 M3? did you get fair market value? How much did you pay for your X5M.

I might trade in my 09 M3 for the X6M..

I bought one of the last 2010s about 7 weeks ago and got it for 81K, list was 92.5K. I got 44K for the 08 M3 with 22K on it. Private sale would have been 4-6K more......Steve

artrosis,

Did you mean that the BMW door edge tape from the dealer ruined your door paint?

I am nervous as I put them on my door edges plus the under the trunk lid a few weeks ago.

Were you able to talk to BMW about this? This should not happen as it was designed to protect.

2010 X6M (NO Soft-close doors!)

Sleeper Crossover, smokes just about anything out there. Get the valve cover gaskets, induction and water pump done by 100k/mi and it is good for another 80,000 miles:
