I will be spending some quality time working that out over the next few days
I know how you feel! mine wasnt rusted, copper seal went. it was really tough pulling it out lol
Worked on getting the broken/ corroded bolt out. Drilled it then broke the easy-out off in the bolt. Almost impossible to drill the hardened steel of the easy-out. I had to use little diamond bits in my Dremel tool. Was able to get the piece out, drill the hole bigger then get the rest of the bolt out with a tap. This was a long painful process.
Anyhow got it put back together and running well. Feeling pretty sore, I think I need a topside creeper....

It worked really well and lasted a pretty long time. I applied it in October I didnt get 6 months out of it since the car sits outside 24/7 but it worked well. Once I detail the car this spring I will be applying it again. Without all the salt kicking up, Im curious to see how long it lasts in spring/summer weather.

Nanolex and Fictech also make a nice sealant for glass as well.
Plus, I'm diving right into bug season, so anythign that helps bugs wipe off is great. It's the season that I usually keep a microfiber and some stoners in the car for bug cleaning on long trips.

Washed, then clay bared and started paint correction on my X5M. While the paint is looking good, it definitely makes the rock chips more obvious. Does anyone have experience with dr. colorchip or any other solutions. I plan on doing two stages of paint correction then a ceramic coating.

Looks familiar...

Helped my son with a full cleanup, claybar, trim dying, paint correction and then full Gtechniq ceramic coating on the summer wheels and all vehicle surfaces...

I have had great success with Dr Color Chip. The one challenge I’ve noticed is the paint, or maybe it’s the process, doesn’t work as well when I reuse the product a year or two later.

Nice results! Your paint looks to be in really good shape.

I'm on the west coast, so I'm afraid your son will be no help.

what does it do and is it reliable (proven)?

Had 2 Injectors replaced after BMW made me change my BOSCH Plugs (same numbers) but without the BMW logo.

Went ahead and reversed the charges > game on

In the process of replacing the wastegate flapper that was causing low boost, rattle and whistle noise.
Removing the bushing is a nightmare so far. Had to go get a tungsten bit and grind this thing off tomorrow.

Replaced passenger side mid range speaker as it was blown. Bavsound hooked me up with a free replacement even tho I wasnt covered under warranty since I wasnt the original purchaser.

Upgraded all front and rear turn signal and brake light bulbs to LEDs. The brighter light output and more instantaneous lighting is noticeable. The hazard double flash looks so much better.

Bulbs are claimed to be error free but I used Protool to code in he LEDs so I am not sure if their claim is true or not.

I am gearing up to do exactly what you are and curious what products are you using for the paint correction? I also have the same problem with quite a few rock chips that are going to stand out.

I'm using Meguiars 105 for the cut/correction and 205 for the polish both applied with a random orbital polisher. So far I've spent roughly 15 hours with just the 105 smoothing out all the issues in the paint. I was able to get rid of almost all scratches, even some deeper ones.

After that I used dr. color chip to fill in all the rock chips. Dr. color chip doesn't make the chips disappear, but it fills them in enough that they are hardly noticeable. The only way to do better would be to wet sad down, repaint the chips and then clear over it, then polish again. For me it's not wroth doing that as the front bumper/hood are the only real issue areas and they will undoubtably get more rock chips as I use the vehicle for work, which requires following other vehicles very closely at high speeds, and driving off onto the shoulder quite often.

That brings me to today, I applied Dr. color chip yesterday and let it dry. Today I'm going to pull out a couple small door dings, then start polishing with the 205. After it's polished and I'm happy with the condition of the paint, I'll be applying the CarPro Cquartz. So far I have about 20 hours into the project, so to say it's been easy/efficient would be a total lie. I have been "working" from home the past couple weeks because of the lockdowns in CA, so I've had the time, otherwise I would of hired this out to a local detailer who would of charged about $1200.

Here's some images from the process...
Current state of the paint:
