Carly - Things to reprogram in your X5
I thought it would be good to share experience with Carly - which, for those unfamiliar, is a "lite" coding app you can use with your Android or Apple phone or tablet. It is not for performance coding.
http://support.mycarly.com/knowledge...t-is-possible/ Here's a partial list of what I've changed in my 2012 X5 E70: 5 blinks when tapping turn signal Unlock all doors with long push on button to turn off engine Close rear gate with fob and gate button on dash Tail lights on always when engine running Head light washer settings Close sun roof and windows with fob or by just touching top of door handle (must have comfort access for this) Power windows and sun roof active for 2 minutes after engine stop Digital speedo visible and uncorrected (yes it works and I checked with GPS) Other stuff I can't remember.

It looks like they have added Rear gate close from FOB. Thats a new one. Also iDrive coding that allows DVD in motion is pretty cool too. What they need to do away with is all the warning when you first step in... Caution this, caution that. That would be cool to rid all these safety paramaters. Custom warning would be cool. "Caution: Further use of the Accelerator can cause prolonged erections that could be detrimental to your health. Please seek the nearest female BMW Service advisor for further questions."

i heard you can pay $10 more for the feature to force a DPF purge on the diesel. Is that correct?

Thanks for posting this. So, to use this product, you simply plug in the OBD II adapter, download the app, then select on your phone from a menu of desired functions and you're good to go? No need to know any of that coding jargon? I saw the adapter on Amazon for appx. $75. How much is the app?

Yep, no editing of files and it doesn't let you mess with the ECU so you can't screw things up too bad. I did have to reset mine back to original factory settings once when I got the lights all screwed up. It backs up all your changes so you can just pick a date and have it revert to the setup at that time.
Adapter is $31 on Amazon. App is $59 now which is more than I paid about 6 months ago. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=sr_1_2&sr=8-2 https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...iNi.bmwhatFull

For $5 or $10 more you can upgrade the app and get access to the service section of the car and can reset service indicators and read out diagnostics. I discovered that my water pump was going bad this way.

From what I can tell taking them apart, the Carly adapters are actually just the cheaper ELM327 with a different sticker and custom firmware to have a different SSID on the wifi version of bluetooth ID on the BT version.
I have the 2nd gen Carly adapter as well as ELM327 Wifi/BT adapters bought off Amazon. I'd like for them to add the ability to retrofit Sirius into CCC X5s. |

I purchased the OBD II adapter today off Amazon. Already got the Lite app. I'll be very interested to see how it works...

If you're asking in relation to my post, the paid app does the codings. The lite app only checks for compatibility. I had an ELM327 adapter that was "capable" with 7 coding modules when I used the lite app to check. When I bought the app, it only really worked with 3 as they say the others are too complex for my adapter to handle. I went to buy the MyCarly adapter and that worked with the 7, but now they add idrive support and the 1st gen adapter doesn't code idrive...

Fairly basic options as far as 'coding' is concerned, but dead simple for a novice. |

The Android App I believe was around $51. This will allow coding for unlimited VINs so you can do friends cars, etc. Battery registration is an additional 10 euros.

Hi guys, I'm having a problem with Carly for BMW on IOS - I just replaced the battery in my 2011 X5M and now the app says battery registration isn't supported? Has anyone else run into this problem? The car is undrivable as it is with the Christmas tree of warning lights due to replacing the battery.
