'12 X5 xDrive35i is starting but isnt cranking

I recently replaced the Fuel rail pressure sensor, Transmission harness, and Exhaust camshaft position sensor and also a make shift ground wire from autozone. Few weeks ago my car I left my car idling and it suddenly shut off then I thought to my self it can be the battery so I towed it back home bought a battery next day registered it and then it was still the same issue no crank but only starts. Everytime I try turning it on I can hear the starter click once and no crank at all. Also I checked if my engine was seized with a breaker bar and thankfully it was not seized. If you guys have any idea what it can be please let me know!

Bad starter will trigger an error code.
Was it hard to turn the engine by hand?
I had a bad alternator bearing prevent the engine from turning over a few months ago.

I HAVE NOT dealt with this personally, but could it be possible that a ground strap from engine to body is bad?
