Pudgypepper's X5D Journal
Hi everyone!
Wanted to introduce myself. I've owned my diesel for a year now and absolutely love it. I did a mountain of research before purchasing it and got the most spec'd one I could find at the time. It even has the elusive factory roof rail delete! Only options I missed out on (didn't know they were a thing/couldn't find one with them) are the Adaptive cruise control and the extended nappa leather on dash and upper door cards. I plan on retrofitting at least the ACC as that would be a fun project, as well as potentially retrofitting a complete Nappa interior as long is it doesn't interfere with the air conditioned seats. Let's also not forget the full ABC delete with tune sometime down the road (I like the quiet nature and green emissions for now). I'll be posting more pics as I find the time, but for now here are two pictures from yesterdays photoshoot thanks to a buddy of mine. If you spotted it, the left side is indeed missing the xdrive35d cladding. This car has had a lot of work done by my father and me. I'm excited to show you and share the story of how it all came to be! For now, I'd like a vote! Delete the badges or keep? Gloss black kidney grille surround (yes, these are the X6 LCI kidneys!) or keep the chrome? Thanks, all! Last edited by Pudgypepper; 07-16-2019 at 10:54 AM.. Very clean!
On your car, I like the chrome grille and the badges. Its a nice contrast to the black paint. With a badge delete it would still look nice.

Looks great Pudgy, wish I had some photography skills like that. 215's are timeless!
I vote to do color matched surround on the grill and vent splitters, keep the badge but remove the rear "X5". But really depends on what your plans to do with the other silver painted parts. I'm bias because I went that route and did the same to some X6 LCI grills and vent splitters a couple years back - media blasted then painted BSM and switched the lower grills out for black, prefer the cleaner look. I have a few chips but still look very good. Don't want to post a pic in your thread but check out my thread with wheels for sale, there's a pic of the grill there. Here are some quick pictures from my recent trip to St. Simons Island, GA. Also picked up a tow hook mounted bike rack on my way down! I've got a tow hitch, But I prefer how sturdy the tow hook mounted rack is, as well as how it telescopes back to allow me to get into the cargo area
She's currently sitting at 102,400 miles and running beautifully! |

I would go debadge and black grills. Cleaner aesthetics and less is more.

A couple pics of my box trailer towing setup! I use it to transport my Ducati, tools and materials for flipping houses, and miscellaneous things like helping my brother move. All aluminum (800lb), with interior led lighting and tie down points. Great for my needs and I will definitely do a build out in the future!
