Apologies, but wanting real M styling on a M-light should not count as a " worst design aspect" . I Drive an M-light ( X3 M40i) , and I would love to have the styling of the real Ms, but I did not buy one. BTW Your car is already beautiful
as it is. But, we gotta respect that the boys( and girls) who own real M cars deserve the design and performance upgrades they paid for.

Just my 2 cents, but like I said, I think your car is already really great looking !

happy driving

Thanks, I'll have a look. My interior lights turn off when I press the button, but they will come back on next time a door is opened or the key ejected etc etc. Hopefully I'm missing something!

You have to hold the switch for something like 3 seconds to ensure they are disabled.

Correct; 3s press makes the setting permanent. Thanks!

Still, would be sensible if they referenced the light sensor to decide if they needed to come on at all.

Agree on the sensor, seeing as we have one available for auto lights.

Just to confirm... From an E90 User Manual.

To switch off the lamp permanently, press the button for the front interior lamp for about 3 seconds.

Not my car but new cars in general: moving away from physical buttons. Touchscreens are retarded and WILL cause more accidents. In any older vehicle you could adjust everything without having to take your eyes off the road.

G20 complaints, in comparison to my old F30.
- Rotary knobs for setting HVAC temp was much more convenient and easy to change by feel than the up/down rocker switches. The temp dial was obviously completely different than all the other HVAC controls.
- Driving mode buttons on F30 had beveled edges that made it easy to find the button edges without looking down, and the spring on the button had a very light up down feel. G20 buttons are nearly flat, so edges are hard to feel, and they require more pressure to engage. On the F30 I could change driving modes without looking down, but on the G20 I must look at the button and press firmly.

I had one of these as a rental last month. It may very well be the biggest piece of shit I've driven in my life. Horrible powertrain. Transmission takes 5 seconds to do anything. Economy car interior, incompetent handling.

Meanwhile competitors like the Rav4 are in a different stratosphere.

Requirement by BMWNA that in order to get better features (Nappa, Merino, etc.) one must go up in size. I prefer a smaller car but still want the better features. I am driving a 5 series now while I would prefer a 3 series or even a two series (if they made a GT version of the RWD 2 series; not the POS current 2 series GT) if I could have gotten the same features. I would not have minded paying for them if they were an option.

Yeah! They were perfect to me. I don’t often have stuff, so it’s handy they’re hidden.
And when needed, they always worked and were never in the way of the shifter like other designs… I really wish the E82 had them. I guess they were too expensive to fit in the 1er.

For me, it’s the door pockets on my F82. They’re big enough but the pocket has slick plastic and stuff slides around noisily (sort of fixed with some felt adhesive liner). Loved the pop-out pockets on my previous E92 that were nicely lined….not sure why they didn’t keep that design.

E82 cup holder is just silly, that's for sure. But the E90 ones annoy me to no end. I need to replace one yet again for not popping out. That little metal tab on the roll is just a huge failure point that drives me crazy!!!

E30s had them by the shifter

I agree though, they need to stop fixing things that aren't broken.

If you do the fix on them you don't have to buy new ones and they don't break anymore. My experience. Cost: one zip tie

F15

Excessive wind noise when windows are open.
Car washes never get underneath the rear hatch spoiler thingy.
Seats are too big. I miss my E90 sport seats. They hugged you.

Other vehicle design flaws?
My Ducati has underseat exhaust and literally no airflow to move heat away, so your bum feels like its on fire all the time. If it's hot enough out and I don't wear my leathers, it literally feels like I am going to have burns on me bum cheeks.

G05 - 22" wheels

Baffling as to why this is a thing. The vehicle rides so rough yet feels like it's on stilts with any slight turn in the road. Among the worst ride/handling balance of any higher end car I've driven. Not to mention the insane amount of body roll in this thing.

I don't know that option... only the one where you try to re-bend the end of the coil. Can't get it to work without breaking. Can you point me to the zip-tie method?

Having to go into the idrive menu on my e70 X5 to change from hot to cold climate settings. This just makes no sense...

Why does BMW even need this in the first place? I set the temperature... if it is colder or hotter than the current temperature then figure it out! It seems like a crossover between the legacy dial and the electronic controls. IMO the whole climate controls on the e70 1st gen idrive are pretty terrible.

BTW, 'intensity' levels (different automatic programs) have existed for about 20-years. In a 5-series, since the E60.
We also have an e60. When I hit auto in that car, the fan goes to auto. However, your point about intensity level on the e60 is noted, as I have to adjust that sometimes as well, but at least it defaults to the most recent setting. Same with my e9x's though they require fewer changes. My beef with the g30 is that it always defaults to intensity #2 no matter what. Probably user error.

Right now when I get into the g30, I start the car then hit auto on the HVAC and bump the fan from 2 to 3 or 4, hold the driver aid button on the dash for three seconds to shut that crap off, set the driver program to sport individual to disable the auto start-stop, tell my phone to ignore CarPlay, then I can finally shove off. I know, third-world problems. I hope to see a little improvement when I sync the My BMW app to the car this weekend. And when Carly comes out with an update for the g30, I hope I can permanently code some of these other settings.
