The video of a rebuild explains how it works...seems to add a second spring, a second point of sealing boost and a small hole to allow boost to maintain pressure on the seal to hold a few psi before dumping to zero like the stock version. I've written GFB to see if there's a way to use their DV/BOV combo before I get the DV+.

I got a response from Go Fast Bits in regards to the dual BOV/DV and they do not and may not make the dual port unless you guys keep emailing them. Just like a previous post says though, the DV+ should be capable of working with our vehicles using different bolts since the factory DV is the same as the N55 335i. I'll email them today with bolt/screw size so GFB can add the X5M to their application list.

the large majority of diesels run variable vane style turbo's, so no blow off valve or waste gate to speak of

do the stock DV's have issues on lower psi, lower HP tunes, such as 'stage 1' piggybacks? Is this even applicable to us lesser N63 boys?

So I just looked up the differences between X5M and X5 50i and the 50i doesn't have diverter valves that I can find. The charge pipe goes straight from the turbos to the intercooler and into the manifold. N63 does have the MAF in the intercooler though.

I got a really long email about how the DV+ is better. Basically, they replace a diaphragm with a piston and use the factory solenoid only. Supposed to only release pressure when necessary and only as much as necessary. So you can hold boost longer and maintain performance.

This is why I'm curious why some are looking to go with a BOV setup. The DV would probably be better for tuning since adjustment can be made through the ECU instead through mechanical parts.
I suppose those seeking are running much higher boost levels than stock.
