Best tune options for 2013 E70 X5 N55?
I'm trying to get a tune on this car, but MHD says I have to send the DME out to have it unlocked. I also have an F30 N55 with the JB4 on it, can I swap the JB4 into the E70? What are some good options for this car?

JB4 wont work.
If you want to tune, you need to have the DME unlocked. Where are you located? Some performance oriented shops are able to unlock the DME as well. |

Or what's the best performance option without upgrading internals? I currently run JB4 map 2 on my F30 and it runs pretty smooth without any upgrades, but it's not like I'm always flooring it. Would the X5 be the same if I went with a Stage 2? |

My shop charged me ~$350 to pull the DME from the car and unlock it. Custom tunes are going to vary on who is doing them. My shop (Bimmer Clinic/Maximum PSI) told me they would do a custom dyno tune on my car for $600 (in addition to fee for unlocking DME).
The only real performance upgrade for these cars is a tune. You have the standard bolt ons (intake, downpipes, exhaust, recently an upgraded intercooler) but you really need a tune to take advantage of them. If you really want to drop some coin, you can do Pure Stage 2 turbo upgrade. Again, you'll need to do a tune to get anything out of it. If you are talking MHD OTS Stage 2 maps, yes the car should run just fine with it (assuming your car is in good shape). |
