Atm we are In New Jersey (on a road trip) and mid drive the car threw a engine light and said "engine malfunction, reduced power" I have a screenshot of the codes it threw which is linked. So me being curious I turn off the car and back on and poof it's gone. Drove 4 miles and then boom again car threw the same code and error. Now when the car is stationary and when it's driving when I accelerate or rev it, it sounds like its got a supercharger instead of a turbo. This sound is something I've never heard before and I checked both warms and cold charge pipes and both aren't cracked. Now since I'm no where near my home city (Ontario, canada) I am afraid that this car won't be able to do the drive back leaving me here. Anyone else have this issue or could help me understand what it could be because the car drives fine but any sort of boost (or power output) it makes that whine. There's also no smoke that comes out the tail pipes. The cars at 99k miles

Perhaps one of your turbos went bad and you're hearing bearing whine. Just a guess though.

To check this, you have to pull the intake apart to get to the turbos to see if you can spin them freely.

Update

Took it to bmw of Edison and they did an inspection and deemed the car needs almost 18k in repairs. Which I do not want to spend. So I don't know what next steps to take.
