Thoughts on US spec 35d (2011 & 2012)?
Current owner of highly modded F10... We recently relocated to Bay Area (SF) and need second car. Thinking of a used X5... Any general thoughts on the vehicle? Either the 35d or 35i... 50i might eat too much gas for me but I'm not that opposed.

My father had a 2008 30d and just got rid of his 2012 40d in anticipation of his F15. I drove both vehicles and they're impressive in their own right. The torque is fantastic and quite a bit more impressive than the 35i engine I have in my 2011 X5. I'd say the mileage is similar though. I took the 30d on a trip to Italy and average about 25 US MPG. When I purchased my 35i in Houston and drove it home, I averaged 25 US MPG as well.
Since (at least in Texas) diesel is still more expensive per gallon vs. petrol, the diesel didn't make as much economical sense. The biggest issue I had is that I could not get the M Sport package on a diesel, which is an option that was an absolute must for me. |
