And SAI beat NOR also last year where NOR beat LEC. LEC is a very good driver but historically SAI is just better if you compare years that they were competative with eachother. I think he scores more points because once he's in his rythem, he's more consistent. LEC is maybe more adaptive? But maybe also makes more mistakes. But for sure this year they will be eachother rivals on a higher level than last year. I hope there won't be any HAM-ROS drama's (or Prost-Senna drama's for that matter!) Any drama's between those two and VER will certainly profit from that. So Binotto also may have his work cut out for him. But it might just be my view. I mean LEC had a very good start in F1 but just couldn't pull through in those years. SAI had pretty much gradual progress.

Yea, Charles was overdriving purposely because he had nothing to lose with the slow Ferrari. Now that he has a proper car under him you can see the more measured approach in the first race, i.e. didn’t get crazy with Max.

And what LEC said about it in 2019:

I'm talking about last year. They were both in the same car.
Sai has more points at the end of the season. But of course this year it might be different. The difference last year wasn't huge, they are closely matched. The coin can drop either way imho. Both drivers make a very good runner up for the championship

Nobody expected SAI to finish above LEC either last year.
It's a very very long season, anything can happen. Last year's fight between SAI/LEC/NOR was equally exciting to the championship fight but it got less attention obviously. With both SAI and NOR getting 4 podiums and LEC just one, but it took 4-5 races before SAI started to finish above LEC with some consistency; I expect to see that too this year. However, with the titlefight, if SAI leaves points behind in the first ~5 races, and there is an intense fight between VER and LEC, Binotto might want to push SAI more in a sacrefical 2nd driver role. I don't know if he'll accept that....

The question is. Will Ferrari start playing team orders?

OK, let's not be naďve, it is definitely ambiguous:
Hypothetically speaking: if LEC and HAM would be fighting for WDC in the final stages of the 2022 season with VER mathematically out, this kind of Merc-AMG tweets may galvanize VER to become LEC's virtual second team mate. Remember the 2016 Abu Dhabi F1 WDC deciding race: HAM (P1) held up his team mate ROS (P2) who was chased by VET (P3) and VER (4) (VET and VER managing to heavily breathe into the neck of ROS each time HAM deliberately slowed down the pace in front of ROS). IMHO it would have been smarter for Merc-AMG to ironically wish Red Bull a speedy recovery. Backfire example 1: BMW teasing Mercedes with a Halloween prank but getting owned by the Mercedes reply: https://twitter.com/DaimlerTruck/sta...427008?lang=en Backfire example 2: Audi teasing Porsche and Porsche brilliantly replying three years later:

Interview from Lando today does not sound good for McLaren. He basically said car is lacking downforce, lacking grip front and rear. Also it won't be an easy fix, as these new cars are difficult to figure out.

Forthcoming weekend: the layout of the Saudi Arabia (Jeddah) circuit with long straights and an average speed of almost 245 km/h per lap, substantially strains the engines in terms of heat management. Let's see how the Red Bull PU will cope with it this time around: if it cannot handle the heat during the 300+ km race, yet another DNF is a risk if the PU is permanently pushed to its limits.

MGUK on the honda pu's seem to be problematic as well, and not to mention the power steering issues that plauged tusonda on testing (so there are probably issues there too) so there is alot of issues for redbull to fix.
