Last I heard from BMWNA, the X6M's still have an EPA/CARB Hold (Monroney Sticker). If you look at the official Dealer Info reports, you will see a note that says "Hold: Monroney, release" on the document.
It seems a lot of folks have been informed that their cars have been released for shipping, but the folks I am dealing with keep assuring me that none of the X6M's have been released yet. They are being built, but BMW keeps insisting there is an EPA/CARB hold and nothing can be shipped until the release is obtained. Hints were that it might happen this week... (My car is in production and should be competed this week as well). If anyone actually has their hands on one, it would certainly contradict what I'm being told. However, the folks I am dealing with via email are quite adamant that NOTHING is being shipped at the moment... |

I've seen for sale pictures of a few dealer inventories that actually have the 2013 X6 35i on their lot. I haven't seen the 2013 X6M on that particular site yet.(I don't know if I'm allowed to say the name of it on here). So all I can say is that there are some 2013 X6 35i that have already shipped!

It seems to have happened this same way last year... 2012 X6 35i and 50i were assembled, shipped, and available for sale before the M. And for the same issue--hold because of EPA/CARB "Monroney" sticker issues. When I picked up my M in SC (during the first week or two of delivery), I asked the reason for the delay--they said that the X5 and X6 M versions are the smallest volume products made in SC, the largest percentage of them go outside of the US, and so they are lowest priority to get through all the US government certifications. Thus, the X5 and X6 M come out last for US. I don't know if that's really right or wrong, but if it's true then it seems to make sense.

Here's a screen shot from the "BMW Group Portal" which was sent to me last Friday. (I eradicated any/all personal info). You can see the "Moroney" (EPA/CARB) hold which is circled. The folks who sent this to me confirmed a few moments ago that the hold is still in place...
If your Client Advisor (Dealer) has access to this info screen then that is where you will want to look. The 800 number and web status may not show this level of detail. So even if your car is released for transport, it can't go anywhere till the holds are released... |

I guess it depends how many orders are in front of you...
The system your dealer has access to should give them that info. "Conf Prod Date" is the data field I believe... You probably won't be able to track your vehicle until it actually enters production. The Web Site appears to lag about 2 days behind the 800 Number (800-831-1117) |

The X5, X6, and the Ms are all built on the same line so there is no start or stop of one model. The orders are in a first in first out sequence of when all the parts for that vehicle are built and on order. Look up JIT, "just in time" sequencing of parts. Yes the Ms are low runners, maybe one or two a day ..average. For those inquiring minds.

Yes, the USB port is still in the Glove Compartment.
There is also one in the console but you must use the one in the Glove Compartment if you want to transfer MP3's from a USB storage device onto the vehicles internal hard drive. You will actually end up with one CD/DVD player in the dash (for playing audio, watching DVD's, or ripping audio) and then another CD changer in the glove compartment which is for listening to audio (both MP3 and raw audio I believe). |

No DVD Playing yet, but I did purchase and apply the DVD hack that lets you play DVD's while the vehicle is in motion...
