When I return from Thailand I intend to order new clubs. Curent bag is:

Titleist Driver ???
Ping Woods and rescus
PXG 0311 Gen 3 5-PW
Cleveland 50, 54, 58 wedges
Plethora of putters in the garage

Will be fitted for new PXG Gen 8 irons 5-PW and might look at new Drivers though I never seem to like PXG woods/drivers.

I'm an entry level golf advocate. Reading some of your guys response makes me that much eager to take some lessons. Living in Temecula, there seems to be a few around here.

Can be shooting 110s around my new boss haha.

Awesome! Love getting new golf stuff!

Look at either the TM or Callaway driver / woods. I have heard great things about the new stuff they just released for 2026. Total game changers! Hell..even my Qi35 woods are amazing! Which are 2025 model year.

Haha, no you can't! Lessons and consistently practicing is key. Work on that first then get fitted for new stuff. If you don't have a family yet or just have a GF, it will be easier to get out and about to golf and practice. lol. jk jk ...well, maybe.

Ask around local to you at the indoor golf sim places and see what they charge. Here it's around $100 - $110 per hour. You can also do on the PGA website / app and then put in your zip code and it will populate certified PGA instructors in your area. Might be a good place to start first. Luckily it's the winter months and not sure what the weather is like by you but it's a great time to get some lessons in for a few months and hit the driving range to improve.

What do you currently have in the bag?

Thanks. Will check them out. The Ping stuff I got is the old Ping G series. 3, 5 woods and 3-4 hybrids. Every time I'm in a golf store I look for something I might like better and nope. Maybe this year. Pretty sure after this many years living in my garage where temps rise to over 100 for months on end they are about to self destruct.

I heard the older G series Pings were pretty damn good.

Maybe go to a golf store and get fitted for a new driver / woods and see which one you like best and hit best? That might be the move.

Also, you might be able to trade in your old clubs to get an even better discount. I wouldn't look past the Qi35 wood / hybrid line up. They are some of the best on the market. I am sure you can find some killer deals right now too.

https://www.taylormadegolf.com/fairw...ly&prefv1=Qi35

I only suggested TM because I game with them and have great success with and Callaway, only because I have been reading up on their new stuff and following them.

I am sure out in AZ you have a lot of golf superstores you can go into and get fitted!

Ironically enough, I started bringing my bag into the house and made a little spot for it in my office. I didn't want to keep my bag in the garage anymore. I even bought a nice 3 level shelf for my golf balls, golf accessories and shoes. Perfect for keeping everything organized.

I might head over to Golf Exchange after work today or in the morning to take a look at the TaylorMade R7 Mini Driver and the new Odessey Putters. I like my TM putter put I also like not having to bend down to get my ball everytime.

ugh Golf is a sport for humbling you... and when you're on, you're on but when you're off.... you might as well walk away before you break something lol

Last week in virtual league I shot 4 under. Last night in league I shot 6 over and lost my mind. Drives were spot on but all my iron work was complete garbage. Then it got in my head and I just couldn't shake it. After that I started trying to change things in my swing and well.. all down hill from there lol

Update:

So I went this morning to Golf Exchange and hit the TaylorMade R7 Mini Driver. All they had was the 13.5 degree head with a stiff shaft.

I really wanted to test out the 11.5 degree head and loft it down to 9.5.

I went ahead and had the guy loft down the 13.5 to 11.5. Wasn't a fan of the stiff shaft and when I was swinging, the grip was moving around in my hands.

I was able to hit some shots around 270-280. I think I was hitting it wrong. I came home just now and did some research on it and you are supposed to hit it like a 3 wood and not a driver.

I will call around to see if any golf companies have a 11.5 degree with x-stiff shaft that I can demo. Right now, not inclined to make the purchase until I hit it again.

Onto the putter. They didn't have any of the new Odyssey putters. I will wait until next month to go back and look.

Update #2....lets do this again..first draft didn't save. Grrrrr.

Was able to go to a different Golf Exchange this afternoon and hit.

They had a 11.5* R7 Mini Driver and the guy lofted it down to 9.5* for me with an x-stiff shaft.

I had trouble hitting the ball right with the tee height. I asked the guy if he had anymore lower tees and he gave me a few extra. Once I hit on the lower tees, I was hitting the ball more consistent and better shot shape. Avg around 270-280 yards. Once I put the ball on the deck, the shot shape improved but with same yardage. I love the fact that I can swing the club like my 3 wood and not my driver.

I have my indoor golf league tomorrow. Playing two rounds, this weeks and next weeks since the wife and I will be in Napa, CA for some R&R next week.

Depending on how I hit my driver tomorrow, I might pull the trigger on getting the TM R7 Mini driver. I would be $200 out of pocket with my trade in.

Not sure what I want to do yet.

I think I have realized for me and my swing, my balls will need to either be placed on the deck or just slightly above the ground to get consistent yardage and ball flight. Any higher, I get way underneath and mess it up.

Looks beautiful! Right now, all of the golf courses are covered under 6 inches of snow!

Can't wait for all of it to melt and dry out so I can get back out there next month.

Actually, wife and I just landed in Seattle and we saw about 8 golf courses flying in! Makes me miss playing outside! Hopefully soon!

Wow..pretty quiet here!

Anyways, I went ahead and ordered the TaylorMade R7 Mini Driver in 11.5* with the Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 75 x-stiff shaft. To match my 3 wood shaft.

Once I get it in about a week, I will adjust the loft to 9.5*. I am also having them regrip it to what I currently have.

What really sold me on the Mini Driver was the fact you are supposed to hit it like a 3 wood. Which is what I love because I can really consistently connect with the ball using my 3 wood. Better than my driver. Also, I am able to tee it up just a hair above the ground or off the deck for long par fives or just the right length par 4's. When I was testing out the mini driver a few weeks ago, I was hitting the mini driver around the 270-280 mark and that is perfect! At this stage in my game, I would rather hit the ball consistently around the 270-280 mark in the fairway or close to it more often than trying to mash my driver and pull or hook it more often than not.

Low 50s and dry today so a good day for some practice.

Working on getting a little more width in my swing and improving tempo.

Looks pretty out there! Atleast it's sunny and all of the snow is melting! I think we are about 3 weeks out from actually getting to play outside!

I just noticed that! Looks like he is ready to drive the ball! lol!!

Had week 6 of my indoor golf league last night! Drives and approach shots were working perfectly! The chipping on the sim is garbage! I swing light and the ball goes 60 yards over the green. I swing hard, the ball goes 10 yards. Very frustrating!

Played 18 on my regular course in Thailand today. Had a good round but it could have been better but I let my caddy talk me into a 7i instead of an 8i and blew it over a green and took a double on 17. I was cruising at that point.

I hate when that happens. I don't like when people suggest which clubs to use when I know in my gut what I should be hitting because 9/10, their suggestion isn't going to work.

What was your score up until 17?

In fairness she wasn't in the habit of offering advice. I was pondering between 7 and 8 and just asked her., We were both wrong.

I finished 6 over and parred 18 so I guess I was 4 over then.
