Mod update:
My downshift paddle stopped working the other day so warranty time was the best time to get the wheel and paddles installed. The dealer hooked it up as fixing the paddle meant wheel removal anyway. Warning horrible iphone pics below... Here is a pic with the oem led interior kit on: IND's cosmetic package also came in so I went ahead and installed the grills and keyhole delete. I'm holding off on installing the reflectors as I have some state inspections coming up. Will put them on after the car passes. Fender and keyhole delete: Fender: Kidneys: The KW's should be going on soon just waiting on the oem -30 wishbones to show up first. As you guys know the car has no front camber adjustment and aftermarket kits don't exist so this was my only option. They should be good for only a half degree, but anything helps with this beast. |

Mod Update:
The oem camber control arms came in yesterday. The e70 does not have adjustable front camber and the aftermarket does not provide a solution that I'm aware of so I went with these. They are good for -30, which is -.5 of a degree. While that's not much, it should help out with both cornering and outside tire wear, which the e70's are known for. The arms: Here you can see where the difference is between the types of arms. Notice how the ball joint is not at the top of the arm's curve anymore: Vs the regular oem one: One more of the cambered arm: Now that I have all of the suspension components for the build the install can proceed. Looking at maybe two weeks from now. Just waiting for my friend to have some free time as he is the professional mechanic not me lol... |

love all your builds, this X5 is gonna look sick with the MORR's, X5m's shoot flames with the right turbo back exhaust.

Mod Update:
The BMC filters came in the other day so I went about with the install. Ordered them direct from their website and it made it from Italy to Hawaii in one weeks time. I was also going to remove the charcoal filter as well only to find out my car didn't have them. Fitment was just about perfect, the only issue was there is a 'T' in the front scoops that interferes with the BMC mould that made them bow. Installing them fixed the bow issue but I might remove the plastic 'T' later anyways. No averse affects so far and the placebo effect tells me I gained a million hp and that the engine revs more freely lol... Nice box is nice: Filters : Work Begins: T-25 Torx is all you need: No charcoal filters: Stock paper: BMC installed. Notice the bowing effect from the 'T' that is in the center of the two filters inside the airbox itself: Until next time... |

Honestly because K&N is complete crap imo compared to BMC. They let dirtier air in and don't provide any increase in flow according to the numerous tests run against them and paper filters. Plus they over oil the heck out of their filters causing a build up on the maf. I actually don't like oiled filters, but I didn't find out about a dry one until after. Supposedly ITG makes a filter for our cars so I'll probably try that next time.
Ironically, the only reason I changed the filter in the first place was because I wanted to remove the charcoal filters. So I figured if I'm going to open it up might as well throw in a better flowing replacement filter as well. So I order the filter. open her up, and find out I don't have the charcoal filters installed lol... |
