I may look into Eurocharge as well...seems like you've had the tune for a while now, any updates for those of us on the fence on which route to go |

I just talked to someone from AA and their tune is on sale with the dp's software(stage 2) for a very reasonable price...I already bought 3'' catless dp's... looks like I will be going with AA

http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1169348 As for chosing a tuner, I'm all over the highway...EVERYONE claims theirs is the best of the best, yet prices range from $500-$4000. I don't care about how nice the tuner is (he could cross dress and have lunch at Subway with Jared for all I care), I just want the most power for the best price...reputation is created most from people justifying what they paid for everything...look at $$Dinan$$ buyers as a perfect example. I don't care about fancy handhelds that I'll use once and then it'll sit on a shelf, but I do care about the most power, easy to upgrade tunes (going from cats to catless for example), etc etc with minimal downtime. The perfect scenario would be one X5M, dyno and track tested, tunes loaded one by one from each tuner and results documented. Car manufacturers send their cars to shows like Top Gear, magazines like Road & Track, etc for stuff like this, but it's highly unlikely that each tuner out there would be willing to put their wallet where their mouth is for side-by-side testing like this. One can only hope though... |

I've looked at Burger based off a recommendation from a friend who works at Vivid Racing, but he's heavily into the F10 M5 platform and their tuning options are completely different, so now I feel like I'm back to square one on chosing a tuner. It's nice to know that Eurocharge allows for free upgrades, that's a great value in itself...but I wonder to what limit. |

Haven't really seen many people with VF Hex tune on here and I'm wondering why. If these guys are putting down the best numbers why haven't more people jumped on this. Are there dyno #'s not at the wheel? what am I missing? |

I noticed someone was running it with their turbo 6cyl - has anyone successfully run the S63 with corn juice? Speaking to a local trusted tuning shop, they said there might be issues with "torque request tables"? |

I'm no authority, but I've read other opinions that the old style injectors (pre Index 11) are failing due to the ethanol in our fuel. I'm right in the middle of a swap now because two of my Index 07's have failed. $900 later from www.rockauto.com and I've got brand new Index -12's sitting in aftermarket boxes with BMW logos on them. I read something about the -11 and up having different piezos, something about being internally lubed...basically to handle E85, I just have no clue as to what percentage.

Customized based on your modifications, Active Autowerks does the same thing.

I've been replying on a couple M5 threads about running an ESS tune (which I've paid for, but it's still in the mail) or running a BMS JB4 and meth...with the minor issue that they've never used the JB4 or BCM on an X5M. The thread seems to have taken a turn in that people don't even need tunes, just simply running JB4 and meth will net me better results than the ESS E-Flash, so now I'm thinking I need to return/sell the handheld and continue looking into JB4 since I planned on running meth anyways.
Run ESS for $1500 (rumored high boost misfires when pushing past 22#'s) or JB4 ($550) and meth ($600) and be the guinea pig for the X5M community. Last edited by m5james; 10-19-2015 at 10:30 PM.. |

I believe the JB4 is a piggy back where as Velos, Active, and a few others are an actual tune to the ECU. Personally I wouldn't mind piggy back setups if I was leasing, but for long term ownership I would go the other direction with an actual tune to my ECU. It's a personal preference.

The problem with the original post on this thread, while very helpful, is that it compares power gains from different tunes but with some showing to be whp gains while others look to be simply hp gains.
I'm looking towards the Active setup to include the catless dp and tune (stage 2). We'll see. |

I'm in the market for the best downpipe + tune combo. Although it would be nice, I'm not necessarily looking for the biggest gains, rather quality downpipes that will last the life of the vehicle and a tune that won't compromise ANYTHING OE in exchange for gains. I don't turn vehicles often nor do I swap out mods so I'm looking for something that will do me right for the duration of ownership. I was perfectly happy with my '04 4.8IS for the 10 years I had it! It set the bar pretty high for the current X5 M. |

How much exactly is this lower cost? It's my understanding most all tunes are based on a $250 base BR Tune and then each company tweaks it a little and sells it at their markup.

You get before and after numbers? I'm sure any tune will feel good, but at the same time it'd suck to pay for an 80HP increase and only get 50HP.
