Hi Evanevery,
I checked with BMW (not the dealer) and you are correct. Building starts 1st week of April. In March they will begin the re-tooling. My build number does not take in the add vehicle section on the BMW site, does yours? |

The customer tracking system ("Add Vehicle") will not accept my production number either...
My dealer has sent me a snapshot of their internal tracking tools and it shows my vehicle at a production status of "111". They believe it will not be "customer trackable" until it hits status "112" (Scheduled for Production). They expect it to hit "112" a couple of weeks before it actually starts getting built. Based on that info, I'm not expecting my vehicle to be trackable until the middle to end of March... I check EVERY morning - anyway... |

I also have three links set up at www.trackengine.com (for BMW home page, X6m Product Page, and X6m Build page) to be checked daily for any web site changes.
TrackEngine will check these pages once a day and send me an email if anything changes on them. Particularly, I want to know when the "2012" on the build pages changes to "2013" as that will indicate public notice of the pricing/option changes and availability. When that happens, we should be fairly close... |

I've actually had my build number (production number) since early February. Unfortunately, it is still not coming up under the MYBMW website to check progress.
I understand that it will not likely go live until the line is actually producing the 2013's. So I'm expecting to see something in the next week or so... However, my dealer did contact BMW to try and get more info (particularly since I have to fly down to do a Performance Delivery in SC) and we were told that they will be building 35 vehicles in April, Mine is number 7 (of 35) and it will be built sometime during the week of 23 April. I got this info about 3 weeks ago. I'm going to check back in with my salesperson next week as we enter the month of April... Thanks for keeping me in mind! Ed |

I mean this in the nicest way (I swear).... Are you sure you want one of the first couple vehicles produced? I've toured that line twice now (it is amazing) but each and every time I tour it I think "How long did it take them to get it right?". Granted, there are not major changes (like going to a new trans or something), but any chance your dealer could push it back just a bit (or you can wait?). If you have PDC scheduled, then this probably is not possible - just curious.

I have a 2012 X6M that I took delivery of early Jan. 2012. A great vehicle!
My two cents/opinion: Standard rims/tires are fine at purchase and then upgrade to bigger wheels. I got the 215 ferric grey - goes great with my space gray color. I am going to put Continentals on the original rims for snows. The side view cameras are awesome! At least I really like them. The top down view they provide is great for parallel parking. Dave |

I believe you are talking about the rear view camera with top view where two cameras located in the mirrors point down along with the camera on the hatch to give what appears to be a top down view. Not only very cool, but very useful.

I got side view cams
Useful in cases when you pulling out of narrow driveway, e.g. between houses, or from stop sign on narrow street with lots of cars in parallel parking Common case in NYC, i use them quite frequently |

Doug - I stand corrected! The side view cams are different than the top down ones underneath the side view mirrors. I thought that you needed to buy the side view cams to get the top down ones under the side view mirrors. I guess I am mistaken about that.

Just an update for anyone who has a 2013 X on order...
The vehicles are being built this month. In looking at the information I have been provided so far, it appears that PRODUCTION will be rolling by the third week of April. However... In communication with the PDC, it appears that they have an EPA/CARB hold for the 2013 X model year. The hold has to be cleared before they can DELIVER the vehicles. (My delivery will be through the PDC, but they have the same restrictions as dealers). So while its nice that they will actually be PRODUCING the vehicles pretty soon, the question becomes how long they will have to sit around before they can be DELIVERED to customers. I'm trying to get more info on whether they have to go through this every model year, how long it typically takes to get EPA/CARB approval, and if anything special is going on this year which could be slowing down the approval process. Hopefully, this is nothing... However, I wonder if family visits are permitted if my newborn car has to be put in EPA/CARB Jail for a while! |

Th PDC confirms a post Production EPA/CARB delivery delay on the 2013 X vehicles. They also say that this is nothing special, just the typical approval they must wait for each new model year vehicle. They also indicate that they have no control over how long it takes for the federal approval. It can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks (following the production of the first new model year vehicle).
With production starting mid-April, that would imply the very first deliveries sometime during the month of May. |

Hello,
Just confirmed my X6M is in Production as of 4/9 with a completion date of 4/19. I asked BMW about the EPA/Carb issue and was told it only applied to the M3/M5 regarding MPG ratings. |

It looks like you are a couple of weeks ahead of me. Good for you!
Is your vehicle addable under the MyBMW site? I still can't add mine to track it... |

Hello,
No, my build number still does not work on the BMW site. I asked about this, and was told it may work in a few days, but also may not. So somewhat dissapointing. However BMW in Ohio is very helpful, and they said call anytime if I want the status. Cheers, |
