Definitely not a compromise item for me! It makes a huge difference in handling, especially on corners and curved exit ramps.

any luck? haha, this is one rare bird you're looking for. At least you're not picky on color and a few other options (cold weather, soft close doors, etc).
My "rare bird" was a LCI, CPO, diesel, premium package, 3rd row, under $40k. Yeah it was tough, but I got it. I had to relax my criteria on mileage and location.

One thing you might do is round up a batch of ones you like - and then get VINs and run them through for a full feature list. Unless you're buying it from a BMW dealer, they could easily list the vehicle poorly. Might have AD, but they'd never know it!

I run 20 or so VINs a day now. The full options lists are pretty interesting. I have seen a few with Adaptive Drive that don't have the sport package. Bottom line here is, the newer they are, the fewer options they have. There are lots of loaded 09s out there.

my cousin JUST purchased a 2011 X5d with AD. After riding in it for 10 minutes, all I can say is just Wow. That is one neat suspension. The ride in sport feels very compliant, and with sport mode off, it feels very comfortable, granted he has OEM 18 RFTs and I'm doing a seat-of-my-pants comparison with my standard suspension with OEM 20's.
his car stickered at $70k and has: LCI halos cold weather package vent seats premium audio 3rd row premium package adaptive drive OEM 18s Sparkling bronze on beige He got it all for $35.5k with residual of a CPO and maintenance through Sept. 2017. I'm jealous of the deal. wow.

Today is your lucky day ... light color, diesel, AD and a 2013 ... LOADED (these are BMW executive demo's). And also $56K ...
http://www.gwinnettbmw.com/detail-20...-13179078.html Ask if the vehicle comes with CPO lite. You want to get it with the full 2 year CPO, not the Lite. Let us know!

Has a lot of packages and options but not every one. Without even decoding it, no ventilated seats or rear entertainment. Decoder shows no Active Steering, Lane Departure Warning, or Active Cruise.
Still it's heavily optioned and looks really sharp! |

Remember you couldn't get Active Steering in the 35d.

I admit I'm not as familiar with the diesel's but as I was writing that post I was thinking to myself, I'm not positive all these options were available on the diesel. Thanks for keeping me honest!
I think PAX5 is referring to the fact the warranty on this particular X5 is 5 years/75K miles, while most CPO vehicles are 6 years/100K miles. |

I think he meant the balance of a CPO warranty...some private sales of CPO cars are in this manner.

my cousin renegotiated again, the guy agreed to sell it for $33.5k with warranty and maintenance.
I told him to hurry up and close the deal before he loses it. We went to the dealership with the seller and pulled the maintenance records, aside from the 3 recalls (programming, EGR bracket, and some belt tensioner or something), the car had no history of any other warranty fixes.

BMW Certified Pre-Owned Elite: These are newer model year, lower mileage (more than 300 miles but less than 15,001 miles) vehicles. This warranty covers you for 1 year/25,000 miles* after the expiration of the 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle/SAV Limited Warranty or for a total of 5 years/75,000 miles.* I hear it is cheaper to certify cars as Elite. I've also read reports that you can pay the dealer some $$ to "upgrade" to regular CPO. |

considering I bought a very similar 2012 X5d 2 months ago for $38k (with warranty), I'm dying to tell him to hurry up and close the deal. What pisses me off is, he's still hesitant on something about the car, I think ultimately, he doesn't want it, but his wife wants it. He wants a good deal, but won't believe me the seller is taking about a $3k haircut on it. Further, this is his first time into any car that costs more than $20k...so he's hesitant on buying a used luxury car with high mileage. (I can't blame him, but I have been advising him on all of this, and if you buy new luxury cars, you'll get killed on depreciation). I keep telling him, don't kill the deal, I told him with the combo of options on that car, I know at least 5 people on various BMW forums looking for this car. I don't have the VIN, I'll post it after the sale so not to jeopardize his deal.
