I don't know the setting adjustments in the M3 but the X6M has an M button which will activate the DSC, EDC, and power settings. I have them in the most aggressive setting and they're still pretty tame compared to the GTS.

But, to analyze 997GT3’s Cayenne GTS road test, it has a very slightly better P/W ratio than the X6, of .0818 vs .0759, respectively. However, that slight advantage would hardly be noticeable. This reinforces his point that it’s more about programming the various aspects of the sporting driving experiences, such as shift points and throttle quickness. The Cayenne doesn’t use BMWs magical methods such as Dynamic Performance Control to manage the X6 proportions (weight, size height), which could also lend itself to a more direct driver experience. That could be said of the M Roadster. Actually I understood what you were saying, but I was having way too much fun teasing. I apologize for teasing you about your username and for suggesting that you’re a Porsche fanatic. Clearly, you’re not a fanatic and your username is actually pretty cool. |

go drive whatever cayenne you are thinking about buying then go drive whatever X6 you are thinking about buying. Would be a much better approach then comparing tech specs and speculating on what BMW or Porsche might do in the future.
I might like an M3 to do a few twisties or take to the track, wouldn't want to drive on long trips. Either your a badge guy or a car guy, for a car guy it's about how it feels not what emblem is on the hood. |

Does that mean GTS is way better than X6M in terms of driving feel? If that is the case, then why deciding between GTS and X6M is akin to the debate bet X6 50 and M.

If its just to haul stuff and go on trips plus you have a smoking fast car I'd say save some money and buy a X6 5.0 or a Cayenne GTS. If not, buy a new X6M or a used Certified Cayenne Turbo S.

It's more? In that case the X6M all the way. In the US the GTS is cheaper than the X6M. You should shop south of the border.

Oh yes, Porsche's infamous options. Most GTS's I've seen in dealer lots are between $85-$90k. I'd say wait until the model refresh.

The refresh model wont have big changes except size and hp, right? With options, GTS probably cost CA$130k-140k here. Then, X6M may be the better choice.

Yes but I think those changes are huge. According to some of the stuff I've read they'll cut the weight by about 400lbs and increase the horsepower by 50 in the GTS. That'll be seriously fast and more of a competitor with the X6M.

Here's a little video I made so you can see them side by side.
I also went through the new iDrive menu and took the BMW up to 150(at least thats what the speedo registered) Sorry the video is pretty lame but it should give you some idea of the differences [u2b]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/O2fRZIOm4dA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/O2fRZIOm4dA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/u2b]

Here's a first stab at a video showing their relative accelerations.
If you can't read the GTech meter I got 4.1ish to 60 in the X6M and 6.0 in the GTS. I'll clean this messy video up tomorrow. I tacked my GTR on the back and it's awful because the launch knocked the camera out of focus. It did a 3.46 second 0-60. Note: I changed the video and dropped the GTS [u2b]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/voN04qT7czE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/voN04qT7czE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/u2b]

Mea Culpa
After experimenting with acceleration I have come to the conclusion (what was obvious to everyone except me) that the Porsche is not even close to being in the same league as the X6M. My initial whine that the GTS felt faster in day to day traffic was incorrect too. I was just being stupid and hadn't compared the two properly. I had the Porsche in sport mode and the BMW in regular mode with the M button pushed. I assumed the M button would change the shift points but that was incorrect, the shift lever has to be moved over to Sport/Manual too. Once I made that adjustment the Cayenne no longer stood a chance in any way.
OP, forget about the Porsche, even if it were a Cayenne Turbo S. The M BMW SUVs are pretty much untouchable. Note: I changed the video above and excluded the Porsche.

It is a difference of 150Hp between the models so I was surprised when u said that Porsche C GTS feels faster... I watched a compartive test on youtube and a x6 50i had the same time with a Porche C Turbo on a circuit...

The X6M is just the best overall Performance SUV out there! and IMO looks better then the X5M + Cayenne Turbo S, is newer bodystyle, lighter, looks more aggressive, and less of them on the road (which makes it highly desirable ) |

Have you driven the M3 on long road trips? It becomes a grandtourer on the long highways, excellent ride quality (EDC) with both 18s or 19s. Unless you are complaining about luggage space or something then the E90 would fill that void. |
